I'm waiting for name to be mentioned with consumption on the dreaded green liquid.
I have tried it, and not the pathetic UK stuff either. It's an aquired taste, I'll say that much! Makes muppet bbq's and camping lots of fun though!
As for who brought it to camping, well, Rich might have brought some along too, but I know my car certainly contained the proper muppet stuff, left over from the bbq!

Has anyone ever tried Absinthe?
Kronenbourg a releasing a new drink (here: http://uk.news.yahoo.com/030530/80/e16aa.html) which is causing trouble with the "hallucinogenic absinthe"!

Yes. most versions in the uk are the womens drinks without wormwood in though. You have to do a bit of searching to find the proper stuff. And after you do, youll never want to find it again.

I do believe it was RichS.....I got two lots of absinthe, one from the cup I was drinking from.....the other courtesly sprayed all over my lower half by the fookin' rebel known as Crush.
I have vague glimpses of consciousness and remember being very, very ill the next morning.....(it doesn't mix well with other drinks ).

We done a bottle between four of us just b4 new year.
The next day in the paper carried a story about a guy dying after 4 shots in about 3 hours!!!!!!!!!
We were drinking it the 'proper' way with sugar and fire as well!!
Felt fine after a can of Irn Bru the next morning.

I've tried this one
'Over the past year there have been a great number of products arriving on the market called "Absinthe." These bear no resemblance to the genuine taste or rituals of 19th Century French Absinthe. Marie-Claude Delahaye, absinthe historian for almost 20 years, has taken up the challenge of producing an authentic Absinthe as close a possible to the 19th Century original.'
'La Fée captures the aroma and taste that great writers and artists such as Verlaine, Rimbaud, Toulouse-Lautrec and Vincent van Gogh enjoyed back at the turn of the 19th Century.'
La Fée Absinthe 68%
Not sure that i would drink it again though.

i believe my mate was knocked out after 2 shots of it, but i don't think he took it right, your not suppose to take it as a straight shot are you? got told by one of my other mates who was somewhere else at the time. he said something about having salt or something like that.

You don't usually drink it straight. You put some sugar on a spoon over the glass and pour ice cold water over the sugar. The drink should turn a very light green milky colour. I had 2 shots and it didn't seem that strong, i just remember the very strong smell of aniseed.

You are supposed to fill a teaspoon with sugar and pour a little absinthe on it.
then set light to the spoon.
then tip that into the glass of it and stir it about and then drink it..
makes a difference
Drink it neat- then wait about 4 seconds for the burn in the stomach and throat.
Evil stuff

Got 4 bottles in the cupboard, drank half a bottle on xmas day, slept most of boxing day
It actually gets harder the more you drink, as trying to balance a sugar cube, pour absinthe over it, and then set fire to it, and remembering to put it out before you drink it too, after several of them
Try it with 4parts absinthe 3 parts Kentucky Bourbon & 3 parts Gin, mixed with crushed ice

Markus and Andy 420 seemed to quite like the stuff.
It's true about the blindess - Andy nearly poked his eye out after lurching 10 feet across the garden into a hedge

Try not to touch Absinthe any more. Had 5 shots of it along with a sh*t load of other drinks on a night out in Tenerife. I have never felt so rough the day after.
Had some New Years Eve this year - again about 5-6 shots and got hammered. Its like drinking paint stripper. Never again.
