How the hell are you meant to pass this thing?

I can pass the question part of the driving theory test (32-33/35 every time) but I keep failing on hazard perception!

Where can I learn how to pass it? I recognise the hazards, but maybe I click too early? Nobody can explain it to me - believe me I've asked!

Please help as I REALLY want to do my practical driving test but I cant till I pass the theory!

Thanks
Damian

You are not alone believe me, me too on my class II, failed once already on it.
Even some of the instructor's are saying how hard it is, if you click too early = fail, even if you spot the hazard unless you time it right you still fail, click too often again you fail.

I suppose it makes for better driver's and safer road's in the long run.

I passed back in 91 and it was a doddle compared to what it is now.

Theory test came in 01/07/1996. Between the start date and 01/01/1997 you were able to take the practical test before having a theory test pass.

As for the Hazzard Perception Test, one of my neighbours is learning to drive at the moment, and her instructor reccomended her a piece of software that she can use to practice/prepare for the test. When I see her I will ask her what the software is.

I just missed the hazard thing which came in last November I think, I know lots of my mates got videos specifically about the Hazard Perception, I 'm not sure if you got one or whether they only gave them to the first couple of thousand? It may help if you can find a copy? Also I hear that the pass score has increased (or will be soon) as more people are scoring increasingly higher.

When you do get onto the practical test don't whatever you do flash your lights, because failing for something as silly as that will p!ss you off a treat

Cheers

'I passed my car licence in 91' 'it was a doddle', going for my HGV licence now and you have to retake to get the extra entitlement's/categorie's to drive a HGV.

I did my motorbike theory test the other week. Got all the multiple guess questions right but only scraped a pass on the hazzard perception lottery (i got 43 - 40 for a pass?).

Does that mean i shouldn't be driving?????

I got one of the theory test programs from PC World (£10 i think) to have a practice on the hazard perception, and found i got an almost random score somewhere between 40 and 60.

you click as soon as you see the hazard and click more as it develops just as if you were driving yourself just imagine what you would do if it was for real

Puppies

Did mine in 1980

I was only in the car for 25 minutes and did my three point turn, emergency stop and reversing around the corner in one road.

He only asked me 3 questions.

It did help I had the 12.15 test and he was obvioulsy hungry

Is there any way around it? If for example I get a licence in France, can I come over and just take the practical element of the test?

I think its quite unfair that I've been driving my bike for almost a year, but now they want to prove my hazard awareness. I mean - Jesus! On a bike! Not as if I'd still be alive if I wasnt paying attention to whats going on the way I hoon it round

i took my theory test in february with the stupid hazard perception thing and before i went my mate (who'd taken it 3 times previously) said just click like mad on the hazard perception , so i clicked like 8 times for each clip and passed 63/75 and i got 35/35. result!

If you click too much though, they puter will vape your score for a clip.

Still think it's a lottery!

i passed my driving test in March and the examiner told me the practical test is getting a lot more difficult to pass as of September this year. As well as doing the test pretty much faultlessly, theres going to be a little exam type thing at the end of it about parts of the car. Its getting a bit ridiculous now AND the test is going up to £40!!!

All of this perfection. Then they'll go out, see the other 99% of road users not bothering to indicate or to move out of the middle lane, and drop straight down to their level.

Wife's trying to do the Portuguese theory test at present, booked for 2 June, WITH interpreter for an extra £100 if you please. And if she fails, it'll need an interpreter the second time, and so on.

Sounds to me like this "hazard perception" test is more of a test to see how well you can click a mouse than spot hazards...

There is an Official DSA Book and Video called Hazard Perception - Roadsense which is the official thingy to help you pass that bit. If you dont fancy the video, the DVD is due out on June 16th (if you can wait that long) Video £12.99 and DVD £15.99.

Available on the TSO website or from all good bookshops as they say!
