I'm quoting from the BBC website here....
The BBC's security correspondent Frank Gardner said the primary aim of the increased security "is to stop a suicide truck bomb slamming into the Houses of Parliament", which he said would have been incredibly easy.
"It is not going to stop a determined attacker with really subtle carefully worked out plans, but it is certainly going to deter the casual bomber," he said.

Don't get me started on Bush going on about finding the morocco bombers. Yet another case of the USA sticking it's fecking nose into other peoples affairs, and then they wonder why they get a couple of buildings blown up.

I actually worked in the house of commons last summer.
At the time there was some demo about the IRA I think going on outside.
We just drove straight in to the grounds with a van and an open 17t truck. Nobody stopped or searched us.We had 7 bottles of Nitrogen on the lorry. Not a problem in itself but who knew if they really were Nitro. Only me as I loaded them myself.
We were approached by some geezer during the morning and told that if anyone asks to say we had been through an induction before entering the grounds even though we hadnt.
I knopw there are CCTV cameras all over but still you'd have thought theyd have something better in place to check out people working there.
Chip.
P.S. Might have been a good thing if we'd blown them all up anyway.
