you should watch the Bailiffs programme thats on on Thursday nights. Full of useful information.
Im pretty sure that there has to be proof of whose furniture is whose...but you can go in there without the lodgers knowledge...it is your property after all.
But of course it all depends on the reason you want a bailiff in there in the first place

cool - just found more infoo on the net, yes they can only pinch stuff my walking into house through open door, climbing through open window etc..
Just had a great idea, my garage is full of old crap furniture (mainly ikea turd-apparel) - I could leave it in the garden with lodgers name on it.. free waste disposal service

What rights do We have againts the bailifs? watching that program it seem like they can do wot ever they like.
I know open door is not good but people tend to open the door b4 asking "who is it?"

opening the door is one thing but surely they cant barge you out of the way to gain entry - that is assault isnt it? So unless you actually let them in I cant see what they can do.
Note - this is purely guesswork on my part, based on no legal knowledge whatsoever!

baliffs came round my mates house before chasing debts for the previous owners, we tried to explain but they weren't having none of it. So two of the local lads outside threatened them with a friendly looking baseball bat. They weren't so hard then and surprisingly they didn't come back!!
