Yeah, Quite how the new Italian Job lives up to it's name as it's set in LA, I don't know. I think the original heist in the start of the film is done in Venice, so I think that's how they quantify it.
Mark Whalberg and Edward Norton star, though Ed has said he is only doing the film as part of a contractual obligation.
I've see the trailer and it looks ok, it's got new mini's in it, and they are red, white, and blue, so I guess that is kinda ok.
Am curious to see it, but, well, it's still sacralige ain't it. Auntie nelly would turn in her grave, and more likely than not, jump up and kick your teeth in

If they called it Italian Job 2 and didn't insist on calling it a remake, it would work better, but what they've done is just appalling.
Good cast though, so I'll watch it and ignore the fact it's trying to be something it's not.

its bound to have a happ ending, bet it does not finish like the original.
Best of luck to them but how can they redo such a masterpiece and it be a patch on the original?

The plot goes like this....
The lads, (Ed, Mark, etc...) get led by John to do a bank job nicking some gold, from Italy, I think. They pull the job off, but on the way back Ed turns round, kills John and buggers off with the gold. Mark and Charlize and the rest of the gang plot revenge, and thus go to steal back the gold that was nicked from them by Ed, thus this is the 'heist' as of the original film
hmmmm. It's all action, typical hollywood, and not a patch on the original, and it does make my flesh creep.
No Camp Freddy, no Benny Hill, no 'proper' Mr Bridger. in other words, a bad bad thing to do.
I echo the comments about Get Carter, Hollywood strikes again and kills a decent film.
There are only a few remakes I've seen which are good, and top of my list would be The Thomas Crown Affair, and Oceans 11.

Nope, they weren't Phil. I think they got through 16 Mini Coopers in the making of The Italian Job, something like that anyway. Like you, i wince at the thought of it (1968 Cooper S owner )
