I like to follow the Ascar racing at Rockinham, the teams publish there frequencies and would like to get hold of a scanner to listen in during the race.
Has anyone got one?
Where can I buy an inexpensive one?
Cheers

Depends on the definition of "inexpensive" I guess, but try Maplin and use the search box (top right) with the phrase "radio scanner". This gives a few ranging for £90 to £300+

We've got a Yupiteru MVT-7100 info here which we use to listen in to the WRC teams when at a rally. I bought this after much research and having already paid £££'s on an inferior and much cheaper scanner that wasn't up to the job.
The important thing to look for (in my limited knowledge!) is the frequency range and the increments in which it scans. The first scanner I bought didn't go up in small enough increments which meant I couldn't tune it into the exact frequencies I needed (I was given the team freqs by a friend who works in the WRC and they were correct) therefore rendering it pretty useless.
The Yupiteru MVT7100 has been replaced by a newer model but is still one of the best you can get for the money so I was told. I bought mine seconhand on Ebay for £170, boxed and barely used from a guy fairly locally who even threw in some books he had on the subject free and was a fountain of all knowledge on using the scanner when I went to pick it up from him. We've used it on every round of the WRC we've been to and it is brilliant for getting all the up to date info and news as it happens
