Shaving Rashes
#1
Anyone have any advice/knows of any good creams to stop getting shaving rashes after a wet shave I'd be grateful to here them.
My method is splash my face with hot water, put shaving gel on (Gillette Sensitive) and then use a Mach 3 (not Turbo) followed by a shower.
The rash doesn't appear straight away but usually about two days later, it can be spotty and quite itchy and then goes.
Any advice greatfully recieved.

It's a bit girly, but after a lot of persuasion from my wife I've started using some water-based moisturiser after shaving. Much as I hate to admit it, it seems to work.
Vitamin E cream would probably work well too.
Get yersel' a Mach3 Turbo, though - they're very good.

Always believed in good grooming for men. Can't whack Clinique, use the face scrub, post shave healer, scruffing lotion, M lotion and got a Mach 3 Turbo just for the name

Get mach 3 turbo blades from the local market - 8 for a fiver - beats the £10 or whatever tesco/boots/superdrug charge.
I personally shave as soon as I come out of the shower. I find Nivea for men shave gel to be the best. Then once done put some nivea after shave balm on.

At the moment for post shave, erm, 'gunk' I'm using King of Shaves K-GL Post Shave Gel and Trevor Sorbie Mg Post Shave Soother
I prefered both to the Nivea stuff but try a couple. Sainsburys sell the KoS and Nivea stuff (Nivea is on promo in our local SupaCentre).

I did try KOS a wbile back and although it does give a very close shave I found it gave me shaving rash (probably cos it does cut so close). Went back to Nivea and all sweet.

All the off the shelf stuff from boots is pretty much the same and not very good, clinique is a little better but the best is Dermalogica. You can only get it from salons and professionals but it really is the best. This is recognised internationally and when you see these celebs/models/those who look good etc endosrsing other products its only for the tv/ads. They all used Dermo. Friend who is a beauty therapist has met countless people who endorse nivea/clinique/whatever and they all swear by Dermo themselves.

Get the Mach 3 turbo and look into getting a better leading-edge-mounted moisture strip. Next you might want to consider uprated blade springs and bigger n' better blades. Finally a blade remap to ensure optimum angle and you're away. Also, ensure you have ample foam on, you don't want to get foam surge mid-throat

Shave after you come out of the shower (seriously!)
The reason being is that the brisles are then more supple and are easier to shave off, this means that they dont feel like sandpaper and give you a rash.
Also shave downwards before you shave upwards, this too will help (plus some nice nivia aftershave balm )

Agree with P1fanatic above, shave in the shower or just after when yer bristles are nice and soft from the steam and heat.
Even I struggle to cut myself with a Mach3 and Gillette gel.
Why not try shaving every other day if you can get away with at work, or work from home and shave when you feel like it/the cat is scared ;D
....or become one of those American "teddys" they like it big and hairy

Just discovered this stuff from lush "razorantium" absolutley great, I'd been using King of Shaves Gel up to that and thought that was tough to beat.

big gay bears
Based on physical characteristics alone, say, 'A bear is any big, hairy, gay, guy.' But this is an oversimplification that doesn't stand up to close examination. Even in the wild, not all bears are big, and not all big, hairy animals are bears. We all know men who are slender and relatively smooth of face and body who nevertheless embody the soul of a bear, and whom we am proud to consider brother bears.
