yes. There should be a second DVD with all the background, making of etc. I watched that first and it made a lot more sense.

Got to agree, top film.

If you like war/action films, have a look at "We were Soldiers" a recent mel gibson film set at the start of the vietnam war.

Yup, well worth the £8 it cost me on DVD.

The straffing run by the AH6 Little Birds was amazing in surround sound

Well, its a true story + a large dollop of Hollywoodism.

I remember reading somehwere that the director, Ridley Scott, originally produced the film to be a somewhat scathing commentary on the US involvement in Somalia, but it had to be re-edited post 9/11 for being 'unpatriotic'.

What is does convey accurately is the absolute sh!tload of Somalis that were killed relative to US troops. I think they killed over 1000 if memory serves, but don't quote me on that...

Good film though

They completey left out some bits in the book - like the Hummers get totally lost

Amazing how hollywood can take one giant ****-up from start to finish and make it into an "arent we great" movie. As far as I could see the only people who come out of that with any sort of credit were the pilots. Hovering while people fire RPGs at you. Titanium Knackers.

Nice to see Ridley getting full value from his Gladiatr score

I'm with you Bluiie, saw the film, then read the book, book much better.
There was a story when the iraq war was on ( has it finished yet?) that saddam had taken advice from the somalian war lords on how to kick yank butt!
Same old hollywood bull****, turning one big f**k up into a victory for the yanks, lucky there were no british for the yanks to shoot as well!

Did you see the end of the film??? It looked as if they did to me, the Pakistani's came in and took all there wounded out and they used the Pakistani APC's as cover on the way out of the city. Great film though isn’t it .

I think it’s a bit sad really certain people are slaging it off, I don’t think it would have been a load of b-o-l-l-o-c-k-s to the friends and family of those lads. Just remember it may have been a bit of a dramatization but this did actually happen. These lads were only in there late teens and early twenties and they gave there lives to try and stop Mohamed Farah Aideed from starving the Somalian people, granted they didn’t do a very good job of it and pulled out in the end. But I think we should recognize that these lads gave there lives for a cause and it isn’t just a load of made up Hollywood crap.

Got to agree with Eddie "We were Soldiers" is a must see, I love my war films.

Ending of this film when they charged over the ridge into the VC base was pants.

Yeah my "significant other, re-enacted parts of this event last weekend on his Airsoft shooting away days. He had to become a Somalian and had great fun telling the US soldiers what he thought of them and shooting a few into the bargain !lol...yes good film but what are those troops on? fancy risking life and limb (not to mention a few choppers) for fellow combatants who were silly enough to get shot.
