i enjoy watching most of the previously mentioned actors, some good films, but we are talking about the TOP actor(s). think just for a moment about who really does act, i.e. could do any role with conviction?

harrison ford, et al. have made some cracking movies but *no-one* touches Anthony Hopkins, not even close.

5) De Nero (although is either horifically typecast or has NO range)

However I rate them by abilty to ACT not play the same convincing character in ever film they do or 1 stunning performance.

Where was Steve McQueen ?. What about Humprhey Bogart, James Cagney, Kirk Douglas, Clarke Gable etc. Seems only limited to current stars. I admire all the above as fine actors even though most were dead before I was born.
And as for Pacino, he has been in good films, that doesn't make him a good actor. Failure begs for criticism, success covers a multitude of sins.
