im seriously thinking of joining the police, well actually iv been thinking about it for a while now and after an incident with a young gent slashing tyres and running at me with a knife etc. the police women that dealt with the enquiries asked me to get an application form and said i would make a good copper which has just fueled me even more to join!
As she was leaving she said "get a form and il see you on duty"

Mr Manchester, although I am not a Police Officer I work for GMP, as an employer I can recommend them, I say go for it !
There is a plan to get more Police on the streets and things have change with the new Cheif Constable, Michael Todd who seems to be doing a top job and shaking things up, think it would be a good time to join, just dont go to hard on speeders, ok......

im thinking of joining the north yorkshire police, im here most of the time anyway because my girlfriend lives here, am i still ok to ask you for an application form for north yorkshire molly or do i just visit the local police station/job centre?

Why not phone North Yorks up - ask for the recruiting department. If they are recruiting they will send a form out to you.
You can also ask to spend a shift at your local nick as an 'observer'. You can then go out with the shift to see what its like.

Don't do it! When handling crims you are under a strict legal duty to restrain yourself.
Way better to be joe public and kick the crap out of them without fear of having your pay docked later

Join the US army instead. You can legally attack anyone for whatever reason even if you were unprovoked including your own team mates without the fear of being demoted, or killed. Its a win win situation..

All I can say is that after 20 years service, I was glad to get out. The job has changed for the worse, moral around the country is at an all time low, and buddies I joined with are counting down the days to when they collect their pensions.

Don't join North Yorkshire Police mate. If Adensfield in the documentary series Heatbeat is anything to go by they have a higher crime rate per head of population than East LA .

Give it a try.
I'm just a year into it and it's quite demanding!
PM me if you want any info on how the 1st stages are from a fresh angle as opposed to the soured "I left 'cos it was ****, the job's changed' perspective.
You join as it is now with all its supposed PC stuff and human rights legislation in place.

Join GMP mate. By far the best force around here. I think if i'm right they have just started accepting recruits again but imight be mistaken. Go into job with eyes wide open to what happens and the stress/strain it puts on you and you'll be fine, people only have a problem when they think they'll be spending there time running round in Range Rovers carrying guns after only 4 years in the job............hold on, I DO!!!!!
Seriously though mate, great job, good opportunities for a varied experience and we do have a good laugh as well a lot of the time!!

Yeah but it's still a quite place if you compare it to say Oxford or Midsomer
And don't forget Glasgow, they were up to 4 or 5 murders a week on that Taggart Documentary
Give it a whirl mate, I applied 10 years ago, but unfortunately my uncorrected eyesight wasn't good enough

Mr. Manchester
You may get rejected if you don't comply with the points shown here.
They will take any motoring convictions as a reason to reject you as well.
Given that they are criminalising several million people a year with speed cameras/etc they won't have anybody eligable to apply in a few years!!!
