Daughters Mobile Phone
Bought my daughter a nokia 3410 for Xmas last year off ebay. Anyway don't ask how she did it, but last night she managed to drop her phone in a glass of water beside her bed
Phone is totally dead.
I've dried it out using a hairdryer and had it in the airing cupboard all day, but still nothing.
Is there quick fix or is it a chuck away.
Stressed parent mode off.

Did you take the battery out straight away? If you did you may be lucky. Try this.
Strip down the phone. You will need to remove the front and rear covers first and the using a Torx 6 screwdriver remove the LCD and plastic keypad bit as a complete item. This should allow you to lift the PCB away from the chassis (do not turn the chassis upsidedown as most parts in Nokia phones just lay in the chassis and are held in place by the PCB when fitted). Give the board a good clean with some IPA and a stiff brush (not something with plastic bristles as this may generate static). Leave the PCB to dry thoroughly and then reassemble. Also worth checking the battery with a multimeter to check that it was not killed when it was shorted out.
I have had success with a couple of 8210s and 3310s using this method. Good Luck.

If it was just water and the phone was off at the time and you got the battery out quickly you may have a hope. Otherwise it's buggered
(did a stint repairing mobiles for a couple of weeks.)
Chances are that even if it does work, it won't work properly, and will die shortly after.

Same thing happned to me but in a glass of vodka lol. Managed to get it straight out and died for a while then made a quick recovery and worked agan. Was a bit iffy for a couple of weeks then was fine after that.

Dont bother with insurance, they can check when the last call was made and hence find you have a false claim.

And stop calling me Shirley.
A lot of insurance policies have an excess of around £50 anyway (mainly due to the high level of fraudulent claims
).
You can buy a brand new mobile, sim free and save yourself a lot of hassle in the long run.
Here's one example a Nokia 3310, sim free, £63

Happened to my 6210. It dint work the next day or the day after that, but the following
Take battery off and leave in warm place (no more than 40°C I think for safety etc) for a day or two and try it again.
