A friend of a friend of mine used QBass. They put together a great track and sold the copyrights to ministry of sound for 10 grand. The track is by Mitch and Mart and its called Get Up. Have a look for it, bloody excellent.

I imagine you could get some excellent samples of sounds from everyday life, with an MD recorder and a decent mic. Maybe try the flat4 burble of a Scoob ? Then use a piece of sound editing software to get the desired result ...

I tried something similar once, recorded thunder and lightning from my window sill, sounds excellent!

Ive been producing for many years now- and have a huge sample library- unfortunately i cant send you any,as its all in akai format, or on cds and vinyl.
But then dont know if it would be amy use any way- as you are after pre prepared loops and stuff i imagine, whearas i make my own from single drum hits, synths etc.

Future music and the mix magazines sometimes give away sample cds- and the regualar cover cds have some on usually.

You can also get great results from using a MD with a pair of headphones in the mic input. Real crusty lo-fi type of sound.

Sorry, all of my loops and library is in akai, kurzweil and Emu format

Personally, i wouldn't bother with sample cds, as they're (usually) rubbish. you spend hours going through them, then forget what you were doing in the first place!!lol!! really helpful in the creative process

Vinyl's the way to go.

and "yes", i do know what I'm talking about

ADP,

Get yourself a copy of computer music (2 CD issue this month) which is normally brimming with megs of samples, theres loads of sample sites on the net but it takes too long to get stuff really, for acid stuff www.acidfanatic.com is a good start.

Good luck

Gary
