It's that bl00dy Bashir again. <programme's cred goes straight down the pan>
Charles Ingram is thick as two short planks though. Two lives lost by 4K so statistically he doesn't stand a chance. It's obvious that he cheated IMHO. Interested to see how they thought it would work though.

Guilty - his Mrs gives it away looking at Tecwen Whittock. Love the "no" cough!
They'd probably have gotton awayu with it if they weren't so greedy - should have stopped at £125,000. His Mrs looks as if she knows the game is up - she even said "oh god don't" after about the fifth time "Googol" was confirmed as the answer!

Guilty as charged. He changed his answers all the time due to the coughing. Even his wife joined in.
Both were a pair of greedy rats. Hope they live a life of poverty for doing that. Greed doesn't pay.
Thing is i feel sry for their kids. They'll have to live it down too.

Guilty has hell, esp the Craig David one
it was so blatantly obvious, esp his wife, looking at the wierd named one, and then coughing herself
I had to turn my TV down the coughs where that loud, even the ppl sat around her, kept looking at her when sh coughed

Obviously guilty - you can tell that just from the Major's antics, even if you couldn't hear the coughing. We've watched enough episodes of Millionaire to see how people behave when they're up amongst questions 10-15. Nobody ever gambles 500k like he did on a 'hunch' which he's never heard of.
The bit that did it for me, though, was the tape of the call when the Major was told the programme was going to be investigated by the police, and that the payment of the 1 million wouldn't be authorised. Most people, having just been told they weren't going to get the money, would have gone ballistic and asked loads of questions to find out what was going on. Whereas the Major just said "Well, obviously I refute that completely, but thanks for letting me know".

it was the wife that was the driving force there for sure
Tarrant was right...."Tim nice but dim" but no criminal IMO
I've seen that wife type before....hateful no wonder he was going for the mill so he could bin her with a settlement

<devils advocate>
-highlighted and amplified coughs give absolutely no feel for how it would have sounded in the middle of the studio.
-No attempt was made to let the viewer have any attempt at an impartial judgement, they were given only the one option.
-Chris Tarrant had no idea, and he was after all the closest to Ingram.
-In court, it was not alleged the "no" was that other bloke. The FFF contestants either side of him couldnt confirm it was him. That part was never proved in court
</devils advocate>
The phone call clinched it for me though *IF* that was the entire phone call. The editing of the rest of the programme and choice of presenter gave me no confidece to beleive what i was being told....

Sorry but I have to say he is as guilty as a puppy next to a pile of poo.
I think his wife was the brains behind it all, well it wasn't him was it !!. She was obviously mortified that he went over £250K, and couldn't keep her trap shut. If you take the show from Tarrants view then as he said he thought nothing was out of the ordinary apart from this guy was crazy and therefor great television. But from early on all the backroom and floor staff were suspicious of him and firstly his wife, and the Wittock. And the question when Wittock clearly says "no" was a dead give away.
Pity, I would like someone to do that show out of a million. If Tarrant started that malarkey with me I would say " shut up pr*ck and give me the next friggin' question ".

I won't hear a word said against Tarrant. Tiswas was the greatest Saturday morning TV show ever in the whole world, and he should be honoured and revered just for that.

"And the question when Wittock clearly says "no" was a dead give away."
As I said, in court this was unproven. The contestants sat either side of wittock coudlnt confirm it was him. All we have is "no" on tha tape and the assumption it was wittock....

Aaahhh
The Phanthom Flan Flinger, The Masked Poet, Up by the Ears, The Cage, Sally's Tee-shirts, Spit the Dog, the Dying Fly. The fun was endless, a generation before its time, the humour was on so many levels. I can remember a summer band concert in a local park in 1978 with the Heidenhiem town band on a visit playing for a crowd of about 150-200 people. 10 of us lie down on the floor in front of them and do the Dying Fly. Oh to be 16 again.
MarkO is correct Tarant is God

Oh come on
I would have loved them to get away with it even though he was a Major in the Meccano Mob. If some one from the TV company phoned up me or you and said no money your conning us, we would have gone boco loco. I wouldn't have said " yeh ok right " all calm like.
And the " no " thing. Well give all the coughing and so forth and then we have a no half coughed, to much of a long shot not to be him.

Just out of interest, the Major and his wife are being investigated for suspected fraudulent insurance claims as well. They had alleged that they had been broken into and were trying to claim a mint.
They live just down the road, hence a lot of interest by the local papers.
Bit confused by the timing though. Do i remember correctly that he was on the show in 2001?
