Right....time for a new (super) car...

I've had some good advice from the shared intellect on this forum many times. I would appreciate it now as I am struggling with Top Marques.
Having gone from Elise, Esprit V8, P1, Ferrari to a vw golf most recently, I promised myself if my business took off I would look around my birthday (April) for a new sports car to complement the golf (shopping car), for some fun on the side.
Budget is tight (around 30k) so we are looking at a 993/S2000/Evo8/Sti8/caterham SL - basically something as a fun car to use every other day. Would like conv if poss as it is a lot of fun and I am struggling with talking myself out of an MX5 as a throw the top down and have fun type car - but I would miss the acceleration.
What do you lot love that doesn't cost the earth apart from scoobies at the mo?....

Camel spider dude, I am flying helis now, not fixed wing, but must admit the fixed wing option is cheap, looks like a lot of fun - thanks for the pointer - it is interesting if not accessible at this time! Need a motor to commute soon though so flying is a side thing.
J4cko - budget only 'tight' for a decent car - what I mean is I want a 360/996TT/500SL but can't have one, 'cos am looking at something a lot cheaper and more accessible - because the last car I had here got scratched/cover stolen/ dented etc so not prepared to enjoy my true passion until have a garage and safe land to park on (plus the dosh to buy one...I wish!). Don't be sarcy, I am just looking for decent people's opinions.

Have you driven a BoxsterS? Great car despite the image 'problem' .
I think the Boxster is the best way to spend £30k on a cabriolet...otherwise a TVR Tuscan is a hell of a lot of car...but you have to be prepared to put up with blackpool build quality.
993 are good (last real 911 before the damn watercooled boxster lookalikes ) but cost a lot more to run than the 996, when servicing and parts came down substantially. Early 996's are cheaper than good late 993's now
