Everytime I leave my car in a carpark I come back to find some inconsiderate tw@t has managed to dent my car. So my question is; can I legally straddle two spaces therefore leaving a large gap between my car and any others? I know there are rules against it in most pay and displays (usually says you must be completely in bay) but what about private car parks i.e cinema, supermarket. Am I likely to get clamped / towed away?
At the moment I usually park in an end space as far away from the other bay as possible however this then leaves a larger than normal gap which some £$&8* finds is the only space big enough to spanner his truck / van / 4x4 in thus leaving half an inch between the two vehicles and me with bashed in panels. How hard is it to put your hand over the door whilst getting out?

You're not alone in this and I have to say I tend to try and go to the supermarket when I know it's going to be quieter and then park away from most of the cars and take up two spaces.
I've only had one person ever confront me about this and it just so happened to be at a time when I was in a stinking mood and I unleashed with:

"I'll park between the f**king lines when other people learn to use their f**king doors without damaging my f**king car!!!"

That certainly seemed to shut them up!

 

I think if you take up 2 parking spaces you will just get peoples backs up and then they are more likely to take it out on your car by being less carefull when passing it with their trolly etc.

I know it pisses me off when some itiot can't park straight.

Buy two tickets and you can use as much of two spaces as you want!
