I noticed some ridiculous political correctness shown by the mods and others on the fatties/planes thread. What's wrong with saying someone is fat if they are? I understand we need to censor racism but where does it all end?
Could it be that some of those doing the censoring are a bit too fond of their pies themselves? Let's see how long it is before this bit of free speech gets censored too!

no,its 'cos I drink beer and eat crap food.
I take PLENTY of excercise, thats why I maintain my weight and STILL eat and drink too much, otherwise I'd get bigger and bigger every day.

Turn it around? What is your worst attribute that you are offended/emabarassed about????
Are you any of the following : thick, ugly, short, tall, fat, thin, ginger, black, white, orange, catholic, protestant, spotty, smelly, clean, french, american.......the list goes on.
If someone called you one of the above with the word relating to "illegitimate son" after it, pertaining to attack your weakest attribute, would you take offence?
I guess that in your eyes, you are perfect? In others eyes, you may not be?

The point ( I think, if there is one in this thread.. ) Is that the majority of these things are unchangeable.
Making fun out of someone who has a personal attribute that cannot change is not funny. But making fun of someone who is smelly? It's the same as being fat, really.

Is there actually any medical condition which causes people to be fat? I thought if you eat less calories than you burn you could not possibly put on weight. I know my problem is caused by eating much much more than I burn.
(A quick count revelas that if there was some protien and a few trace elememts in beer I would not actually need food)

There are lots of medical conditions that cause people to be fat.
Sadly there's so much stigma attached to the problem, and so much of an attitude of blame from "normal" sized people, that it's an area where very little research has been done.

If every fat person didn't use this as an excuse for being fat, don't you think people would be more tolerent?
so infact, fat people are helping to promote the intolerance, not `normal` sized people?

All this ***** footting around to be PC is bollix IMHO. If you described a car that you saw and didn't know what sort it was, wouldn't you descibe it as maybe 'a huge blue car' or some such. I can't see why it shouldn't be the same with people. IMHO peeps need to grow up and unlock their common sense glands.

So what proportion of fat people are only that way because of medically proven reasons?
I asked this before, but no-one could give me an answer.
You can't ask fat people, because 9 times out of 10 it's not their fault, of course........

muppet paster - fair enough, but the peeps on here are trying to enforce their views on fatness on others - that is the point!
I don't have a problem with someone calling someone that "huge person", but it is when it is said in a derogatory manner that would offend as if they are a lesser human being because of their size!

I was just listing some of the medical reasons which may be the cause. I'm not suggesting that these reasons apply to everyone.
Some people over eat and dont exercise. I'm well aware of that.
There must be something more interesting to discuss than whether fat people can help being fat or not.....

I DON'T smell, I play regular competitive squash (cue the "you's squash me" etc jokes.. go on, you know you want to..
) and I DONT get out of breath going up the stairs etc..
