Question

im after some wood to build a guitar. I was thinking of Birdseye/tiger maple for the neck. For the body just thinking alder/ash. What else could i use for the body?
Is there any specialist shops that anybody knows of? or is a case of popping down B&Q's 4 it!!

Thumbs down

Yellow Pages under "timber stockists", and ask what hardwood they have, or can get.
Unless you live near a large centre of population, prepare for a fruitless search................:

Will let you know next week end.

There is a guy in Norwich who teaches how to make them and other musical instruments.

My contact not available untill next week end. He is making I think a mandolin or some such instrument.

It may be worth a search

All the best

Managed the following :-

For wood for guitars = http://www.tonewood-international.com/products.html

Shop for wood instruction books, D.I.Y. kits or separate items + Toch Stone at Reigate.

Other stockists at Tonbridge Wells and Heywards Heath.

Instruction courses at :-

West Dean Colledge Nr. Winchester.

Merton and Wimledon Cooledge.

Both run courses during normal term times.

The Tutor at Norwich does not include Gyitars, does not consider them as classical instruments.

If you want my friends E mail please contact me under my profile.

Trust this helps you.

All the best
