If you mean the tescos in Leyton, apparently he is doing ok, he is a friend of a friend i work with, he got shot 3 times in the chest and once in the leg, he was wearing a bullet-proof-jacket, so rather lucky, he then picked the gun up from the attacker and shot him in the back of the head, he is now dead, and good riddance to scum.Apparently not being prosecuted either !!!

Can someone explain why he was wearing a bullet proof vest!!!!!
I have got this right haven't I? He was working at a supermarket.
Not an undercover policeman or anything military but a supermarket worker!!!!!!!
Is it just me or does that seem peculiar to anyone else?
Unless you all wear body armour..

Devils Advocate time

Hang on! The facts are as follows?

A security guy on a Tescos, get shot during a bungled robbery. During the struggle the gun is dropped and the robber legs it. The guard with no previous firearm experience picks it up and shoots the robber in the back in a supermarket full of inncocent people.

Whilst, I dont know what I would have done in the same situation, Im a little worried about this guards state of mind. He DECIDED to shoot a gun in a crowded space? Not sure we should be giving him medals and the like it'll just encourage more "hero" moments and we'll end up with civiliian casualties. And tbh he was no longer in threat of his life as the guy was running away.

However, I only think he should get a warning about the possible consequences of guns in public spaces. Adrenalin or not, he could have killed anybody!

Obiously you havent shopped in leytonstone then !! the tescos is 24hours open, with a lot of plastic gangsters hanging around and trying their luck, i too would want a BPV. Having been shot 5 times, with the chance to shoot him back, show me the weapon i would of done the same. He shot him in the back of the head, so an even better shot than just in the back. I think it happened late at night, so prob not that many civilians. If you think about it though, there probably wasnt many people around whilst one or two people are waving guns about eh!! Just a brave security guard that should of really left them too it. Beyond the point of call and all that.

Hope the Security Guard gets a reward.
If the thieving scumbag had been caught and jailed he would be looking at a minimum of 4 or 5 years realistically.
Guestimate of average cost to taxpayer per week of housing / feeding at £600 gives us between £124,800 and £156,000
I vote that the guard is awarded £100,000 for his efforts.
He gets some compensation for his pains, we save a minimum of £24,800. Everybody's happy !

hmm, are you sure your frame of mind would be same as now after you'd been shot three times? His was probably a mixture of being terrified, angry and vengeful, all rolled into one. The fact that he managed to hit a moving target in the back of the head after near fatal wounding shows that he knew what he was doing.
Besides, I there were a few less robberies at tescos the week after. Why? Cos the gangstas aint so "bling" with a bullet in the back of their head!
astraboy.

and the robber went in with a LOADED GUN. i.e. he intended to use it, and did, 3 times. so, fair play to the security guard, he stopped this a*****e from going on to commit further crimes.

see how cool, calm and collected you are after being shot 3 times...

I think the reason y the guard is such a good shot & wore BPV is cos he's an employee of Securicor, & not Tesocs. Those guys I think have rifle training.
