No such thing as cheap tickets for the British GP, it is the dearest GP on the calendar AFAIK
I would rather (in fact i usually do) go to one of the other GP's like Magny Cours, much better, and cheaper for 3 days grandstand seats, 3 nights in a hotel, and ferry crossing, than for two days at Silverstone
Last time I went to Silverstone, it took almost as long to get trackside, as it it for the whole journey to SPA

I agree with Sonic, the most expensive and not the best track IMO, spectator wise..looks better on TV and doesnt take hours to get in/out. I used to go to most of the ones abroad as they worked out cheaper.
I read somewhere that Page & Moy do a coach trip in with accomadation somewhere fairly close by for 3 days and it works out not badly priced in comparison to just the tickets on there own..worth a go and saves the aggro of driving...

We went with Page & Moy to Silverstone a few years back (the year before the Schumachers Accident) and all of us said, never again
3 hours to do the last half a mile, and coach driver refused to let us get off and walk the rest of the way in
We used Page & Moy for Spa, and that was fantastic, took us 40 minutes to get from our hotel to our seats

I went to both the British and French Grand Prix last year and camped at both. The French is a lot cheaper, and if paying for your own tickets at Silverstone you can get a Grandstand Set, the ferry and camp at Magny Cour for the same if not less than a 3 day ticket to Silverstone. If camping at Magny Cours be prepared to sleep with ear plugs in, its hellishly noisy on the campsite al night! Incidentially traffic around Magny Cour can be a nightmare too.
I got my Silverstone tickets cheap on Ebay, someone has some surplus and was seeking to cut their losses. There were a number of tickets being auctioned in the run up to it.
Not decided which if any race to go to this year!

Good old Page & Moy The drivers can be entertaining as well, or at least ours usually was. Wont be going this year as the Belgium one is off Good track, just too many damn Germans barging their way in everywhere

Went last year, no problems with traffic - drove straight in and out on both Sat and Sun.
Looking forward to it again this year, no driver aids from Silverstone onwards may make it a bit interesting

F1- in my opinion still crushingly boring- just wait until the standard processions start again. Go and watch some proper racing instead. Find your local track and support it (I guess if your local track is Silverstone the grand prix would do!). Who knows you might even get tempted to join in yourself and become a participant.

Top Gear drivers club are reasonably priced. just booked mine for this year- went with them last year. Sunday is £250 including pit-straight grandstand and some hospitality. good value for money.

Best thing to do is wait for an hour outside. Eventually they just let anyone in and you can watch at least half of the grand prix. Save yourself a fortune.
I went a few years back and paid 175 quid each for grandstand seats. IMHO its too much.

scooby-new, jurys still out on that one so far, if it gets boring again I'll buy a tin of paint and change the colour of my shoelaces
Hopefully this year will be more competetive and show some driver action, instead of team orders, etc, etc (looking for the yawning smiley)
recaro, got any tickets yet? sorry for the thread invasion!

My pal does some of the Beeb radio commentary for the Formula One Grand Prix season so obviously has an "in" and knows all the drivers and teams. Last year he wanted to take his son along but actually had to write a personal letter to Bernie Ecclestone for an appropriate pass. Quite unbelievable but it just shows the hands on control that Bernie exercises! DL.
