Council Tax bill

Had my council tax bill today, its gone up sixteen quid a month !
How is it we have to just take these raises ?, wheres the consultation and negotiation, sixteen quid is not a huge ammount of cash but when coupled with everything else going up, NI etc
and the fact its an increase of 10.8 % on the 147 a month I was already paying, I dont know why the government just dont keep all my wages !

Steady......you have to pay refuse collectors, councillors, police & fire.

it makes me laugh the council tax bill.....
ours up £100 a yr, but move five minutes up the road to a 'less desirable' area and they pay less than half of everyone else
and they use exactly the same refuse collectors/fire/police type services!!!
AAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! !!!!

A large part of our council tax increases are to plug the hole in their VERY generous pension schemes, rather then them having to increase their pension contributions like the rest of us.

I am going to make a point of reading up on what the council actually do, I mean there is going to be loads of stuff like picking up big items for disposal and tree felling that they are responsible for but dont make common knowledge, I will then proceed to make a nuisance of myself and get some value out of my sixteen hundred and twenty five quid.

I was shocked when my bill came through. I'm in the lowest band and it is nearly £900 per year! Last year in another county I was only £740!!
Oh and that includes the single person allowance!

'I am going to make a point of reading up on what the council actually do'
Our local council just spent £26000 putting a ******* great big capstan winch bollard in the middle of a roundabout to give it the 'local nautical theme'!!!!!!!
I'd like to get hold of the clown whos idea this was and shove the capstan bollard right up his nautical theme!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wonder if he has any personal interests in the company contracted to do the work?

16.7% down here
Quote from the enclosed booklet "changes in government funding have resulted in Essex receiving the lowest grant increase of all county councils in England"

Mines gone up 18.1% overall and they've even given me a break-down of the increases as follows -
Surrey County Council spending plans - 17.9%
Surrey Police Authority - 40.1% (!!!!!!!!!!!)
Guildford Borough Council - 7.4%
Local Parish Council - 5.4%
Of course I'm sure that I will see an improvement in all local amenities though

No-one seems to be prepared to address this issue.
