Pacifica's are really good. Squires are as good as a cheap guitar gets. But comfort is one of the most important things, there's no point in playing a nice sounding guitar if it's horrible to play

I have to disagree slightly
I have two Squire Strats, one chinese and the other Japanese, the chinese one, plays pretty damn good, although the PUP's arent too good, but htey have now been replaced with some 80's Fender Mex PUP's, and now sounds a damn sight better
The Japanese strat is a deluxe, and every component on it, is genuine Fender (not squire), even down to the 3 ply scratch plate, and infill on the back of the neck
It plays & sounds superb, my mate ( an outstanding guitarist), has siad its by far one of the best guitars he has played, and he has just recently spent around 700 quid on a genuine fender, and he has now said he finally has a guitar that plays better than mine
I must have been lucky, but I picked up two absolute bargains, I would say however take someone with you, with lots of experience
here are mine

Its an Aria, and its an absolute belter, has a lovely sound to it
Cost about 200 quid a few years ago from a guitar shop in Leicester
I have a Yamaha AP4S Electro Acoustic too, which again was another bargain, 180 quid instead of 300 and a new set of strings, but the dealer wouldnt stretch to a free strap too
I got that so cheap due to the new model had just been released, but again it is a superb guitar, so easy to play too
