My hubby desperately needs a new job - career change.

We have been doing the CV sending for a while now but nothing.....

He's reliable, hard working, enthusiastic, fast learner and a very friendly person as some of you might know

Has experience in computer installations, networking, sales, management and many more.

Can any of you recruiters on here help?

Mail me if you can and I'll forward his CV to you. Or contact him directly on robert@velryba.com

Thanks for any help!!!!!

Mr and Mrs velberya - have you looked at financial services? I.E. selling invetments and insurance?

Last July I was given the big boot from a job where I was 'reliable, hard working, enthusiastic, fast learner and a very friendly person' with unlimited IT skills. I used to earn about 45k a year. Now I work about 15 hours a week and get a decent income instead.

The key is to be a motivated, a quick learner and friendly. This week I worked Monday evening, an hour on Tuesday and two hours this morning. Gross income will be about 3k (for the week).

Kate,

First, teach him to speak English as that may help!!

Second, should I see if I can get him a job at my place??!! Perhaps not!

Glad to see you had a good holiday with NO mishaps.

agree with fast bloke....in 1996 i was a gym instructor on 10k, in 97 i joined financial services and mutiplied my income by 10! within 2 years- now run my own firm.

its a shrinking industry in terms of ppl doing it but there is growing demand- as long as you are a nice person, can chat and add up you can do very well.

ok quick financial services summary:

(fastbloke was new to this more recent than me so he may be able to give a more uptodate idea)

many life assurance companies sell their stuff (life cover, investments, etc) via their own ppl as well as independent people.

if you work for them they will train you, perhaps give you a car and then they will wait. One of two things will happen...you will quit within a year or go on to earn good money (if you go on but dont earn good money you're a mug and should quit!)

a few years ago this was EASY to get into. its harder now as margins are dropping so theres simply less cash around to pay ppl at the lower end- and that includes new recruits.

but it is still possible- not all the firms still use sales people- some have gone IFA or internet/phone only- so make sure you talk to the right firms.

they are easy to talk to and due to the HUGE turn over of people are well used to dealing with recruits.

as a job the first couple of months are boring with training courses- the next few months are a bit pressured as they will want to see targets meet and that may involve a LOT of phone calls. You will also despair at the crap sales skills you have rammed into you.......bear with it. Once you have been at it for a year you can start to exert your own character on your role- pretty soon you can forget the crap stuff you were taught and be your own person (i remember being about to quit after 7 months as i HATED the idea i was going to spend my life using chessy yank sales pitches)

long term if you are good with ppl it can be great and the money is good if you are.

T

ps- forget the stockmarket/mis-selling stuff- yes its a harder world than 5 years ago but at the end of the day if you are good (or can be good) there is work.
