Room too small for Plasma?
#3
Go for an LCD projector with a short throw lens and a ceiling mounted pull down screen. Something like the panasonic ptAE200/300 will give a 83 inch diagonal screen at a distance of 10ft.
Should be a lot cheaper than a plasma
Just an idea

I have an old plasma in a room only 5 mtrs long. Avoid the whirring fan early models and go for it - richer sounds do a nice high res one for £2k so they are v cheap now for what you get, and you won't look back...

I had thought about the same setup in one of our rooms but abandoned it because the height of the screen (over the fire) in relation to lying on the sofa was a bit 'front row of the cinema'..so ended up keeping a CRT in the corner. Plasma is going out in the conservatory instead where there is a perfect spot
BTW seen the new 42" Hitachi? Getting rave reviews and less than £4k (make sure you see the new one and not the dodgy old Dixons one).

Neil,
There is too much hassle with a projector and the lamps needs replacing every so often.
Is there a website with the panasonic LCD projector? I tried searching for it, but no results found.

Vinesh.....take a tape measure and go to Currys and re-arrange a sofa and 42 inch tv/plasma in store and judge it that way.
Thats what i did when choosing a tv a few years back(seriously).

Not yet. It will have a mantle peice to protect the heat rising to the plasma.
The wall does not get hot.
How can I do a temp test?
