Had parked on a street where the gutter was cambered significantly from the road. When it came to locking the car the keyfob didn't work. As we were late i locked the car with the key.
When i came out i found i couldnt use the keyfob still - and therefore although i could get in the car, i couldn't de-immobilise it.
I got a couple of my mates to help push the car out of the dip into the road. This was VERY difficult as Cheltenham (by weatherspoons) is like a race-track at night The alarm was now blaring and hazards flashing. A police van drove past (4 blokes pushing a Scoob with alarm going off) and did NOTHING!! No interest whatsoever.
Anyway, once it was on the flat i was able to get the keyfob to work. Unfortunately in the confusion i didn't hear the warning beeps from my tracker so once i'd got round the corner the tracker company were phoning me!! oops.
What is wrong with my alarm? I've had this before and rolled it somewhere but if i hadn't had my mates this time i woulda been stranded.

I thought about this so removed my phone and tried it - to no avail. When i did start it (on the flat) my phone was in my pocket so shouldnt be that in this instance.
Did the alarm think it was being towed or something??

No apparently some fixed phone and comms mast in buildings and at the roadsides jam the signal from your remote there is one part of Redbridge tube station where my alarm remote doesn't work.
Luckly i have a scorpion Cat 1 with a manual override!!!

1-2 meters can be all thats needed. If you're out of range then it is sufficient.
There is a car park I visit near huge telephone ariels. I have to park half way down, any nearer and the fob will not work. Not just Subaru alarms, I had a Toad on my old car and that was the same.

Mobile phone base stations, masts, taxi ranks, airports and some powerful CB setups can and will effect the performance of your transmitter fob.
This problem has been talked though on this site before, very interesting, one bloke had loads of trouble getting in his car and it was found that he was recieving interferance from a taxi rank control room close to his house.
Me being me,I added a classic to the last thread by saying why dont the manufacturers of our alarms RFI shield(radio frequency insulated)our alarms and fobs?
And was told if the alarm and fob was RFI shielded how the **** would it work......classic blond moment.

Press the key fob to your chin and press the button.

Oooo like my post a while back
I meet up with my maates a fair distance from hom emost SUnday nights, and have found that the local police station totally ruins my alarms ability to unlock.
Always a bit tempremental then it just stopped working one night, eventually after about 30 mins it worked! Due to a few people milling around the car I guess we blocked the transmitter enought for the signal to get through.
Following week one of my mates said he would show me a carpark so we went there, wouldnt even lock the car!! I said police station not nearby is it, he pointed across road.......
Moved to another car park with a lot of decent buildings in between worked 1st time perfect ever since...
Also local Tescos is near Main Suffolk police headquarters that carpark for me is a nighmare some places Im fine others Im not. For some reason though it seems to vary

You could try opening the bonnet and putting your hand with the fob in just behind the intercooler, as the aerial is often somewhere around that sort of area (obviously this is after you unlocked the door with the key!).
Better still, climb under the bonnet, and shut it behind you as the bonnet will then shield you from the pesky RFI
