Unhappy

Solely by virtue of the toys they sell with their happy meals.
Not sure if there's anything immoral about that,
But it sure is a depressing fact.

Question

What? Bigger than Toys R Us? I must say I find that hard to believe.

Biggest in terms of
1. units sold
2. revenue generated

Toy's are us may have big stores but how many of them do they have?
And can you name a street in a major town that doesn't have a queue of people lining up right now to fill their faces with a large helping of salt and fat courtesy of the clown?

So the FREE toys with a Happy Meal generate more revenue than the toys that Toys R Us SELL?

I don't think so.

Do the sums then........
There are currently 64 Toysrus stores in the UK
There are currently more than 1,000 McDonald's restaurants throughout the UK.
More than 2.5 million people in this country place an order at McDonald's every day.

OK, so lets asume that 25% of those 2.5 million order a happy meal and recieve their free toy. Thats 625,000 toys, being sold for £0.

So McD's have earned £0 * 625,000 = £0 revenue

Let's also assume that Toys R Us sell one toy each from their 64 stores at £1 each. Thats £1 * 64 = £64 revenue

So, assuming my figures for Toys R Us are a little low, they still earn more revenue than McD's do from their FREE toys.

so you really think that the food content of a happy meal is worth the money they charge for it?
Or do you perhaps think that the food is worth about a pound and the rest is for the toy?

Something is only worth what someone will pay for it. If someone stumps up the £1.99 (or whatever it costs, I don't have kids) then by definition it must be worth that.

So I can stop researching McD's sales in the UK now then can I?

Toys R Us don't do so good, only about $7,000,000 turnover per store.
