We use mailsweeper to block exe's and vbs and have messagelabs scan all inbound/outbound mail...they have a 100% detection rate for viruses. Been with them 3 weeks...seem good so far

Messagelabs do not have a 100% detection rate, they just market it to make you think that. They have a 100% guarantee, very different, I think they give you a month free should you recieve or send an infected file. This would not count for encrypted files. It's a bloody good service though.

Our internet gateway blocks all *.exe, *.vbs, and other potentially dodgy formats. That's our only inbound mail entry point to the network. All the Exchange boxes block *.vbs + Sybari are good at getting out up todate virus definitions.

We use a product called Mailmarshal - we block certain file types, inc. exe and vbs, plus add text strings when alerted such as 'funny joke' or similar.

Also run NOD32 which virus checks the mail and to complete the paranoia, we run Norton's on the server and desktop

The latter is only since nimda took a bite out of us.
