Ok, so these people are also minted and have had a top education etc, but can you see the difference to last night's mob in Relocation, Relocation, Relocation??
These guys *have* imagination, drive and personality and *can* articulate a vision. Good on 'em
You see, it's got nothing to do with envy from my point of view.
Apparently the neighbours get up in arms at some point, I'm looking forward to that bit

Good man UncleBuck!
Yes, some clear differences from the Bath couple, but I think in this case the people take a back stage to the house/barn.
Simply stunning. Gorgeous. Breathtaking in fact. What a fantastic place and it works so well. I would LOVE a place like that and to be honest, it's what I'm really aiming for - a place in the country, with character but blended with a modern touch. I loved the walkway, kitchen and bathrooms especially. The open space was mmmmm... superb.
Excellent viewing once again.

Cheers Moss
Have to agree with the above. I'm still not sure about renovation or new build. But ATM I'm warming towards a brand new place to a post modern minimalist design. But where?? I don't know at present.
Still, as you rightly say, inspiring viewing as always

Yeah, it was cool, prefered the old waterworks a few weeks ago, that couple worked their ***** off.
That t*at that presents it get on my t1ts though, going on about the space that has been created, juxtaposing this and that and how this marvellous old building should be respected and we musnt p1ss it off. It used to be a big shed that you kept Moo Cows, Piggies and Dung in ffs, it was built from wood a long time ago by a farmer to keep his cows in but now its the bloody ark of the covenant, if something has wooden beams everybody gets all misty eyed its not like it grows on trees is it ??
My in laws have a barn but they sensibly choose to live in the house, they tried to get planning permission to convert it but werent allowed cos its listed so now its knackered, irony is that planning permission would be granted now.
Do you think there are any barns in the English Countryside that havent been converted into Avant Garde accomodation for the Middle Classes ?, is that why you see so many Cows in fields these days cos their natrual habitat is full of stuff from habitat and couples called Giles and Jacinta ?
I am gutted cos I pulled my old shed down prior to bonfire night, I could have got 1/2 million quid for it if I had put a steel mezzanine in, painted it white and nicked some neon strips from the underside of a Saxo ?

And I forgot,
Why had that guy got the cabling from a sizable Call Centre office block in his house, there must have been at least twenty sockets judging by the ammount of cabling, there were only four people in the house.
Not that the kids had any toys and I would be very worried about the lack of a telly....

New means you don't tend to pay the subbies vat, but you still have to pay it on materials, but you do get to claim it nack when finished, BUT it has to be done within 3 months of building regs signing it off!!!

'for a while' yeh, it's good for a little but gets a bit tiring after 15months!!
And you'll only make money if you cut corners and then sell what you've put all the hard work into, which I ain't gonna!!

The idea would be to sell the first and even the second build. Gotta amass the extra capitol for the 'ultimate' project

They did very little work. Anyone with that amount of money could have had that built. Yes show credit to the house but those people were giving themselves medals. They didn't do any of the work!!!!!!!!!!! Posh tw*ts LOL.
Indeed it was Nice Unc Buck.

Jealous Popeye!?!?! You !??? I think so.
As to my description, possibly a little gushing, but yes I LOVE interior design and it is a little bit of a hobby, so each to their own eh!?
"Posh tw%ts", no, just brought up well and worked hard in life.

I thought the conversion was amazing. Although both Sal and I couldn't figure out why they had made this fabulous curvy interior and then stuck in that bloody awful sofa - each to their own I guess.
I'm amazed that neither the architect (her place was amazing too) or the building manager didn't wallop both of them, especially when they started making changes to the plan without consulting the architects.
To complete it in 6 months was incredible.
Was it just me or did anyone else find it slightly disturbing how she spoke about her in husband in the the third person when he was standing right next to her? I think it was clear who was wearing the trousers in that relationship

I thought this conversion was absolutely stunning.
Thought the bathrooms were a bit visually disappointing tho. Quite liked the shower room floor and walls tho. Liked the wood facia cupboards, but going with all 24 different woods spoilt it a little. Minor quibbles tho, I would jump at chance to live there!
I also thought most of the furnishings were old fashioned and naff....the bedspread and cushions, yuk!!!

Chris, yes she didn't seem very affectionate towards him!
J4CKO, I thought the husband talked more pseudo arty/architectual speak than the presenter...didn't quite come off tho I quite like the presenter, he's got a soothing voice

Not at all Mossman. . If you saw the Water works Grand Designs, these people converted their 'vision' on a budget of around 120 grand as they did the hard graft themselves not by other people!!!!
Fair play to the people for having such a fancy place but 450 grand was an unbelievable amount to pay for doing up that barn.

To be honest in Surrey and Sussex you'd easily pay £750K upwards for a place of that quality. Hertforshire is going the same way. It is possible to pick up nice conversions for around £350-400K, but the trend is upwards.
In terms of what they created, I think they've done very well for themselves. I'd rather spend £450K on a place like that than £350 400K in Clapham where they moved from.

£750K upwards
They may have spent a lot, but it's a wise investment. Why get your hands dirty if you don't need to?

I'm glad I'm a Northerner. You shandy drinking southerners pay daft prices. We could buy that sort of property for around the 250K mark.
My sister bought a place in London for 350 grand. It looks nothing and would cost around 100K up here.
