I'm using windows XP pro on my machine at home. It's the 'release to manufacturing' edition and during the installation and since, there's been no mention of the windows protection activation. I was only asked to 'register' the version, which is optional - and I didn't.

Is anyone else using this version and basically is there any active protection on it?

I installed the volume licencing version recently and it didn't ask me, but if memory serves, I upgraded over an older MSDN version on my HD. Not sure if that makes a difference and it remembers your key, but there you go....
