I'm in need of suggestions for the best and safest way to send mail from a web server (mail shots)
Currently they are fired off though exhange, and mailsweeper and off to the net, but the web servers are moving to a new internet pipe and a Pix firewall, I dont want to send the mail through the existing system.

Whats the best way to get the mail out? no mail will be coming in, its purely mailshots done nightly. I don't know the Pix (yet ) but have been told its not got an smtp proxy?? Is this true?

Any idea's?

If it's an IIS platform, then you could use the SMTP service built in.

If it's some UNIX variant it'll invariably come with sendmail.

I didn't want the Firewall to act as a relay though from a security point of view a direct connection to the firewall is dodgy...

Not sure where the firewall comes into this.
