Question

As you can see if you look about, I'm after a digital camera. One thing occured to me though. Is there anyway to get a real set of prints done up?

The theory here is that I burn the pics to a photocd (normal CDR? or are they special discs or just special format, what software would I need? nero?) then take it into boots and they take the photocd and then produce 'real' photos from the photocd.

Is this possible? or am I just stuck with printing out the digital pics to photo quality paper?

You could download them onto a CD - which is how Believe Boots et al do it.

I have one of Josh L's photos which he printed on photo quality paper on his printer ( epsom I believe ) and you cannot tell the difference.

I am sure Josh will put me right.

Josh don't look up in the sky at about 4:45 'cos I'll be passing overhead.

neil,
thanks mate. Guy here has, I think, and ixus and we have a little cheapish epson color inkjet here as well, he printed out a piccy on it at med resolution, on glossy paper and it looked super.

Maybe I should drop josh an email and ask him what he does?

My Brother-in-Law owns & runs a photo mini-lab in Stourport in the Midlands. He has just got an AGFA ebox in the shop which connects up to his AGFA photo printing machine. Basically the ebox will accept either CD's or the small card's from digital cameras and print 'real' photos. Cost is 59p each. There is no need to burn onto CD as ebox will print direct from card in digital camera.
I presume this would be available in a photolab in your area if U look around.

Cheers
Simon

Boots and Jessops can print your images from most digital media (Floppy, Zips, SmartMedia, Compact Flash, CDR etc). Jessops offer a 1 hour service for an extra couple of £. Handy if you don't want to lose your memory card for a few days.

The out and out best photo site is fotango.co.uk. You can download you photos there and keeep them for free in Albums, then your family etc can go to the site and use a special password to look at all your photos and if they want they can order which ones they want for 50p each I think it is.

Gives you the opportunity to mess about with the photos, move them around, split them up etc.

Really good site and idea.

Kodak used to have a facility where you could mail the pics - they print them and post them back. Can't find it on their website now, so they might have stopped?
