Just taken in sunny Woking, the home of H G Wells.

This is the first cylinder that landed of Horsell Common:

These are the martian tripods:

Thumbs up

I had a meeting in Woking just before Christmas. The office I went to was just around the corner from the Fighting Machine. Bit of a supprise at first to see it, but it looked cool .

Can you get a wide angle shot of the martian so that you can see it in full?

And on the subject of Herbert George, if any one has read "The Time Machine", I recomend reading "The Time Ships" by Stephen Baxter. This is the offial sequel and is written in the same style. An excellent story brought upto date with modern sci-fi thinking and ideas.

You can't actually see the martian itself I don't think - just the fighting machine itself.

I'd be interested to see it from one of those building looking down at it but don't know anyone that works in them!

Flippin' heck Woking and cool used in the same sentance. Never thought I'd see *that*

If you go for a bike ride to the 'sand pits' on Horsell Common they were the inspiration for the landing site crators.

BTW the detailed description in the book of the destruction of Woking always makes me smile

I worked there for 3 months in 2001. At the Going Places HQ (i was there to help relocate it to Rochdale, hence not very popular at the time).

Always wondered whether they had something to do with WOTW
