WinME monitor powering down :(
#1
Seems a lot of IT people here, so here goes:
Perhaps someone can help, or suggest a suitable BBS for this type of question.
I am running WinME on my home PC, and installed a game at the weekend which installed new OPenGL drivers (for the VooDoo 3 card).
After the PC re-started, it keeps sending the monitor immediately into standby mode. I have tried uninstalling the drivers, changing BIOS settings, changing Windows power saving settings - all to no avail :-(
The only way to see anything is to start in safe mode, when the monitor stays on.
I tried changing the resolution, but this didn't work.
I also tried reinstalling WinME, but again the problem remained.
Even installing Win98 SE over the WinME did not solve the problem.
As it works ok in Safe mode and DOS, I assume its a driver problem?
Any suggestions?
TIA,
Jas

Sounds like a driver problem.
Presumably you can see WinME starting up ok, it's only when the PC loads into Windows that power saving kicks in.
I would get the latest drivers for your card, boot into Safe Mode, install them and see what happens, or boot into Safe mode, and uninstall The Gl drivers and game.
What was the game out of interest?
