Good trainers to drive in, any ideas?
#1
I saw some puma/sparco driving trainers the other day. They looked pretty good, however the size 11 was the biggest they had and they were too narrow.
So here is my question. Does anyone ahve any recomendations of good trainers to drive in (the sort of thing where you can feel the pedals)that don't look too stupid to go down the pub in?
Please no Sparco boots that go up to your knee!

Be careful if you're going to drive single seaters or caterhams etc with close-together pedals. I'm a size 11 and trainers were too wide to drive a Formula Palmer Audi safely

Personally I've always driven in either Vans or Airwalks (skate shoes) but then I swapped over to Reebok Classics. Make sure you get something with a fairly smooth sole though as big chunky tread will grab the pedals (if you see what I mean)

I'm on Reebok classic's (as my normal day to day trainer's anyway) and was pondering about driving shoes of some sort sometime. Maybe I don't need to if you're happy in those! My mate says he liked his old shoes the best, can't remember what name they were (could pick them out of a pic), might have been Con's something??? Or am I speaking out my ****? (clothes/shoe knowledge fairly limited - I get confused between dresses/skirts sometimes, ask my ex).
Apparently you can't get them anymore.

I have the original (last years) puma/sparco slip on trainers.
I believe the new ones are lace up though.
The slip ons are the best shoe i've ever worn for driving in,especially now what little grippyy stuff on the sole they had has worn away.

I find bare-footed doesn't really work for me (found out on various rare situations when I've needed to move the car at 1 or 2am in the morning having been in bed), you need something to flatten the foot a bit and provide support and protection from when you're moving your foot around - just that it should be a minimal something and not too stiff.
Perhaps we should design a driving shoe that's producable at a reasonable price point, that's our way to millions!!! ('scuse me, I'm jobless at the moment so any idea...)

I find the old addidas gazelles are the way to go. Sole is pretty thin and they are quite narrow. They look a bit better than my latex wellies as well. Bonus.
