BT Anytime has really gone down hill. Now it is taking on average 10 or more times to dial up with constant engaged tones and lots of lag on-line. They do not respond to complaints so I am leaving. What ISP should I go for - prepared to pay up to £20 per month (including any Surftime type supplement) to get quality anytime access. Occasional gaming is nice, but unplayable on some ISPs - BT Internet used to be quite good for UT!

John,

Interesting, I dial upto BT Anytime through ISDN and never any problems.

I was browsing through Computer Buyer on the toilet the other day and I think I saw Claranet are pretty competetively priced. Also Freeserve anytime, but I'm not sure how closely connected this is to BT.

(No Broadband in my area yet either, or cable)

Im just switching from BT as well

with NTL IM getting phone, broadband, and some digit channels (including ITV2 for F1 fans) for £40 per month, thats broadband 24/7, equivalent to second line, which woul dcost you about a tenner with BT. Would be £35 if I bought the cable modem for approx £150, but I want to check the service for 6 months or so before I decide to do that.

BT are ****e, used to be good, but I dont think they increase lines etc if they sign more people up. I agree, used to be just about playable on UT, at the end it was utter ****e

Unfortunately there is no ADSL or cable operators in our area. Otherwise I would switch immediately. But I'm looking at the NTL 56K dial up service.

Me as with DaveP, but did have bad probs in online game (CS) about 2 weeks ago, but all seems well at the mo.

Steve Perriam has the service on analogue 56k and isn't impressed at the moment. I think.

No major problems with BT Anytime over ISDN. Used to have big problems with BT.

I don't always get in first time but the speed ISDN redials it's not much of an issue.
