We have NLBS running on 2 NT2000 Advanced servers running IIS5
For some reason NLBS dosn't seem to be distributing traffic to both servers, it only ever seems to hit one from the clustered address.
If the busy server is taken down then service flips to the other server OK. There just not load sharing.
I've double checked the NLBS settings and all appears ok.
Any suggestions what could be wrong here?
Also anyone got any good Microsoft Forums?
Tried win2000mag.net seems loads of posts and hardly any replies..
Cheers
John

Haven't used NLBS for a while, but IIRC...
If you type WLBS from the command prompt, it will report if the hosts are converged.
Is the common cluster IP bound to the public NICs on both servers?
Alternative forum - high traffic but some very clever folks on there

Hi
Its wort checking the affinity for the NLB cluster. We found it quite sensitive.... read up on it - usually it will be set to 'Class C' or 'Single'
Also its preferable to use two NICs however it will work with one...
Also if the servers are connected to a Cisco switch there are a couple of oddities... namely to do with how the Cisco switch caches ARP addresses.... Again in the docco - (soz dont have Technet to hand)
Mail me offline if you need any more help

Cheers Guys
I've checked and the hosts are converged ok..
Also using 2 nics in each server with the IP address of the cluster on the outside and bound to the external cluster address ok.
They are plugged into a cisco switch so I'll have a read up on arp'ing
Thanks
