Going to New York for the first time next month, and I'm thinking about going to see a game, Is it worth it ? How close do your seats needs to be to have a decent view (the online booking gives the best seats available as 3 levels back @ $69) ? and finally how long does a game last ? (Never been to watch basketball before)

Give it 2.5 to 3 hrs for a game. ...You will enjoy it !! (aslong as they win..not much chance there then)
I will ask my bro for full details re. where to get tickets and where to sit

Me and the wife are off to NY next Friday for a shopping trip. I used to live in NY (for 14 months)but I never got to see a game then.
I wouldn't mind going but I don't think that the wife will be too interested.
Have a good time when you are there. there is so much to see and do. I reccommend a helecopter trip over the city. You can book them through Liberty helecopters at Pier 9. They cost about £60 but are well worth it.
The statue of Liberty is closed at the moment due to security measures.
It'f fecking cold their at the moment so take plenty of warm clothes.
Jason.

Thanks for the replys guys,
I can't wait to go (just hoping I don't have to take a snow shovel )
I've just booked the tickets online @ www.thegarden.com
They are three sections back at a slight angle with the court but should be good, they cost me $69 + taxes which take it to $80 a ticket but should be a cracking night.
I spoke to a booking agent via our hotel who did offer me COURTSIDE (behind a basket) but at $160 for a $100 ticket it was a bit too high for me (though I was very very tempted ), I bet the view was restricted plus I'm also effectively paying a $60 booking fee.

Ive just come back yesterday from New York
Most of should be cleared/clearing up now, our flight was cancelled, so we got an extra two nights
got a very rare oppurtunity to go belly sliding down Broadway on Times Square (the road not the sidewalk )
was a bit cold, but not too bad, did loads of stuff, was a hero in the Empire State Building, did NOT want to come home

Highly recommended. Thing about watching games over in the US (baseball, hockey, basketball) is that it's as much about an entertaining night out as it is about the sport itself.
Caught a Knicks game at the Garden a few years back and loved it. During the breaks the camera pans around the stadium and always manages to find some attention seeking fans trying to steal the show. Highlight was watching this 60yr old man with spikey ginger hair break dancing in the isles. Fantastic!
