As a new dad Im struggling with one of those travel system car seats. for a newborn the seat needs to be rear facing, thought 5 min. job to put in, o no! It seems the seat belt isnt long enough to go around the back of the seat!!! Tried my girlfriends accord same problem and spoke to a guy at work that says its a common problem that in alot of cars the belts arent long enough. Im going to use the base with it now which should get around it but I cannot believe this is such a fundamental problem! Or am i being a f**kwit????
Other dads please help/advise
Thanks

What brand of seat?
We used a Britax Rock-a-tot without any probs. Seatbelt didn't have a lot of play left, but stretched 'round the back of the baby seat okay.
P.S. this wasn't part of a travel system.
P.P.S. Congratulations!

angel,
not sure will have another look, the diagonal part of the belt is supposed to go around the back of the seat and the lap part across the front but to get the diag. part around I fully pull the belt out but it wont go around it.

on mine the "lap" part can go one of 2 ways... either over or under the seat..... it fits better if it goes over.
may not make any difference but you never know...
congrats on the baby by the way.. how old???
mines 4 weeks now

is this the graco that can go in a base that stays in the car ??. But they say it can go in the car without the base and be strapped in directly ???.
if so when we bought our babba seat the lady in the shop said it only fits in cars with very long seat belts. and you havent got a chance in any european (volvo bmw ect) or japanese car, so have to use the base.
we went for a mamas and papas prima viaggio because we liked the colour. and the extra base was £12 not £30.

pbee,
yep spot on, thanks for the insight, pity they didnt tell us that when we got it!!! Mind you got a good deal and all the accessories and base were thrown in for nothing. Yes just installed the base then the seat, a 2 min. job (like it should have been all along!)
cheers and congrats to all
