After recent announcements about Psion pulling out of the hardware market, as I have just lost my Revo, I am going to change to a palm type device. Considering the Compaq Ipaq 3630, Palm m505, or Palm m500.
Can anybody help me on which is best ? M500 is cheaper as it is monochrome rather than colour but is this alot worse ? Secondly any preference over the m505 or Ipaq ?
Any comments really appreciated - especially regarding connectivity to pcs.

Hi Trigger.
I have the 64mb version with the serial link, I'm very pleased with it, I have heard that the USB cradle sometimes has problems. You can get a mono version which is £340.00 from

Ive got a compaq 3630... dont get a usb cradle if you use nt4.. Syncs ok, only had a couple of probs, and compaq picked it up from work and dropped it back of at work... I bought it to use daily, but the novelty has worn off as it doesnt sync with Lotus notes (what I use at work.. I did bodge it to work via outlook, but was slow and unreliable... ) PSION sync alot better with notes.. unsure about outlook/exchange though.

I'm a comitted Palm addict - much slimmer/cheaper/lighter/longer lasting on batteries than those chunky Ipaq thingies!
I can sync with Outlook, surf and mail using my infrared enabled mobile, and remote control our NT servers too using VNC. The m500 and m505 are lovely, but the Palm V is available at down to £170 and is just a small and capable as an organiser.
In the end the decision comes down to what you want it for - Pocket PC (Ipaq etc) have MP3, better screens and better Windows integration, Palm are cheaper, simpler to use, with a bigger shareware industry. Very much Microsoft vs. Linux in fact

I have had an Ipaq but dumped it for a M500 smaller, better and as a techie lots more toys to play with.
I use VNC to control various servers when I am out of the building.
Email using InSync with Outlook and it works like a dream.
Definetly the Palm for me!!
