Sort of scooby related as the problem I'm having is seriously impairing my enjoyment of scoobynet!!!
Have somehow managed to get both my Internet
history file and temporary internet file inactive. That's to say that they're still there only nothing goes into them. Result = one very slow computer net-wise.
Tried everything I can think of to re-activate them. No joy yet. Help
Thanks

Windows 98 and internet explorer 4.0
To elaborate, in the internet options it shows that 0 (zero) MB of disc space is allocated to the temporary internet file. If you try to change this it says 'Must be set between 1 and 0 which is impossible. 32MB would seem to be what's required but it won't accept that. It was OK until last Wed
when I got rid of a download programme and probably inadvertantly removed something else too!
Normally folk want to get rid of their history, I want mine back!!
Any & all help/advice gratefully rec'd
Cheers
SC

Question

Steve

What is the spec of the rest of your machine? i.e. how much hard drive space do you etc. Might be worth upgrading your version of Internet Explorer, just in case it has become corrupted in some way (although I can't really believe that would happen to a Microsoft product )

Chris,
You've sussed it.
Computer has just been at my work for sorting
but I need a cd with Internet explorer 5.0
on to re-install (won't let me instal 4.0 because a newer version is already there)
Anybody know how to get hold of this as our
IT bod said they're attached freebies on computer magazines, but I can't find any?
Cheers

PC Pro cover disks usually have the latest version of IE on each month.

If not, I can post something to you.

Try dixons/currys. They give out Freeserve CD's. They contain a mildly tinkered version of IE5. I've been using it for ages with no apparent (extra) problems

steve,

I've got cover cds with it on. I'm going to the white rose centre tomorrow lunchtime. Any good to you? Else let me know where is good. I'm in Pudsey near Owlcotes Asda next to Green Flag.

Just an aside. Don't go to IE5
Got to IE5.5, it is much more stable.
