Yup - went & found some server, attached & ran around trying to work out who to shoot
Got shot loads 
Got called "Dip$hit" quite a few times!!! Something to do with friendly fire I suppose. Guess it must've been an American server
Need to work out the controls & need to work out how to converse with my team mates.
Did get your email & sent you 2 back. Still a couple of issues.
So this is CS or Counter Strike. Looks like I've got to go & set up UT or Unreal Tournament for tomorrow night now

This is the ideal place to practice, you know nobody is cheating and everyone knows you, so tips handed out and stuff.
I'm not top gun, but this is the best sort of practice, cos people will say what HP they had before u shot them and stuff. It gives u a better idea of what u doin wrong, or right!

glad to hear its sorted puff - i assume you got my mail ? where were u playing last nite puff ?
should be a good game if we can get a decent number along tonite - only had about 4 on fri / sun which is not enough.
i prob wont make the whole nite as other half is not going to be happy if i play for 2 hrs the day she comes back from spain !
if only her flight can be delayed about 5 hours, i'd be ok !

you using game spy to locate servers ? easy to use and you can store favourites that are local uk ones that are fast or where people you know / get to know play.
have you got icq ?
friendly fire (FF) is good BUT it does not work well on public servers where idiots shoot u on purpose or where people who've not played much are not used to it and just 'spray and pray' !
we dont use FF yet ! but i feel we perhaps should soon else you get to used to be able to fire anywhere and dont take enough care.
perhaps we'll have it on 2nite !
so u a total newbie to CS then ? cant get your mails til i get home later on. should be around 6 / 6:30.
must admit to not being a UT fan - i played with the guys for a few weeks when they first started way back....just dont think its as good as CS. infact i dont rate UT over Quake / II / III or even Kingpin !

Do you mean you can turn off the ability to shoot your team-mates??? I only shot 2 in the 20 mins I was attempting to play Got FF'd myself a couple of times too 
What (IYHO) is the best control set-up? Using mouse to aim/fire & keyboard for movement at the moment...
Best weapons for a newbie? How do you obtain money to buy weapons/ammo? When you say "standard maps" is that what it comes with? (I hope - can't face more downloads )

i use mouse to look around, and arrow keys for forwards / backwards and move left / move right (not turn left/right). for jump and crouch i use num kpad 0 and right control. to select grenade i use the num kpad . key. got 3 button mouse which use for fire, reload and zoom / special action
best weapons - mp5 to start when money low. then most people seem to rate either the colt (CT) or AK (T). certainly they are the ones i use. u can try the aug /sg552 as they have zoom facilities and even sniper rifles and shotguns if u like.
u get money for rescuing hostages / when the round finishes etc etc.

A very useful key that I didn't discover for awhile is the 'O'. When buying kelvar, grenades etc at the beginning of each match I had to go through the accessories option every time, instead the ‘O’ key takes you straight there......makes life that much more simple
For communication to your teammates, you use either z,x or c keys for default responses or too type to your teammates you use the y key.

I'm also a "WASD" for movement & mouse for aiming fan.
Hopefully should be there tonight with full permissions for the entire evening
Hmmm 2 screens - Could you have the console on one screen andthe game on the other - of course one would have to be a flat panel....Wonder what prices Scan have them for at the moment.....
Hope its not too laggy tonight. Its been very bad recently

What else? No wonder I died pretty quick! Loads of "Free View" for me!!
WASD looks good, will have to try that. At the moment 'cos I'm right handed, I'm crossing my hands a lot.
Two screens? Dunno. Seem to recall it mentioned somewhere for "hardened gamers". I've a Dual Screen AGP card (& yes one is a flat panel ) so wondered how to use it for some benefit - I need all I can get!!!

I presume you know the basics, but here is a quick low down on purchasing equipment.
At the start of each game you have the opportunity to purchase new equipment by pressing the 'b' key.
From the purchasing screen you can buy SMG's, pistols, rifles etc. Remember always purchase primary and secondary ammo after you have made your gun selection.
Primary ammo is for either SMG's, Rifles and machine guns. Secondary ammo is for the pistol.
Don't worry too much purchasing the grenades, kelvar as it will be easier too explain tehm to you when playing the game.

yeah i know a lot of people favour the WASD combination for all online games.
trouble is i'm left handed and use the mouse with the left hand. found it difficult to then position a keyboard on a desk so as to try to use wasd with right hand as i was recommended. so i have stuck with arrow keys.
hope 2 c u l8r depending on other ½ whose plane was not 5 hrs l8 and is therefore home from spain on time !
hope to see you mike b - depending upon any offers u get !

gr8 to see so many people turn up. unfortunately not got another server booked here now 4 2 weeks but hopefully we can meet up somehwere else in between ?
i have alternative connection which is usually ok but i refuse to use it cos it costs me. i seriously have to look at isdn / cable cos adsl not available where i am.
i am in the minority now being a 56k'er ! i remember when i was ahead of the game with 56kagainst people still running 33.6 !! how times change.
will try be back later but gotta eat and as i said above other ½ only came back from spain tonite so i might not make it.....
look out for new threads soon for our next sessions.
bring along whoever but can we all try to join Barrysworld and icq / post me user names. also lets all name ourselves appropriately when playing.
one day we might be good / co-ordinated enough to accept challenges from other clans !!! horrifying thought!

AFAIK I shot only 2 Terrorists! However I'm sure I acted as a good decoy for Deano & STi
I was just getting into the hang of it when I got an auto-disconnect shortly followed by a BSOD By the time it was back up & connected, it was 22.00 & disconnect time
However, I've done it! Try stopping me now! Going to go look for an Internet game to play

To plant it, get to a detonation point (marked with a red X) and select the bomb as a weapon and USE (or Fire, can't remember which)
