Question

This DVD X thing thats being marketed as allowing UK PS2 to play all region DVD's (assuming ure TV can cope with NTSC), plugs into the memory card slot...does it work? Has anyone tried it yet? If I can throw away my old Matsui DVD player then the PS2 arrives at Cassa Chuck tonight!

I'd be interested to know if works as well.

main reasons for my not having a ps2 were:

GT3 was not out

No region free dvd playback.

Looks like I've no excuse now. Though I'm still toying with the idea of getting a PS2 purley for games and a seperate dvd player (probably a Wharfedale M5).

Plus there is the fact that I'd also need to upgrade my amp as I'd want a DolbyDigital/DTS compatible one, plus would need a subwoofer as well. tsk, all this for a games console

I have one,

You boot off the CD, chose your region, tray opens, pop in DVD, Bob's your uncle.

However, you need a NTSC complient TV

FYI

Main highstreet shops like Game and EB will NOT be stocking these as it conflicts with thier DVD sales business. (Blokes in both shops confirm this)

However independants like ePlay WILL stock them and you can try the net.

GT,

Saw the Datel RegionX for sale in my local EB for £19.99 on Friday when I went to pick up my copy of GT3.

Just as well I'd already ordered it from Gameplay for £15.99

Not sure wether I'd go for the Region X or just purchase a v3.0 multimodded PS2 from Techtronics when it comes out (v2.0 is current version) I know there have been some peeps who've had problems with techtronics, so I might not do this, dunno really.

Well if definitely works -last night I bought Region X thing from HMV, PS2 from Toys r us and watched some of the Matrix region 1 , then had a small GT3 session.
GT3 graphics seem slight improvement over GT2
I'm pretty tired now!
