Nitro RC Help IMMEADIATE!
#1
Ok just finished my HPI RS4 Rally Nitro car and put in the first fuel load. Started up fine and have set it up following instructions in the manual.
However when started up for the first time off the ground the wheels are all going round and the engine sounds like it is revving very high. There is also smoke coming out of the exhaust.
Is this all normal its just i dont want to ruin the engine.
I have adjusted the idle screw but is as low as possible
Any help please!

Have you checked the throttle linkage is adjusted right? Could be that the throttle is not closing properly? Servo linkages OK? Best to check everything as you don't want to rev the engine to bits first time out...

don't forget, these run at 30,000 + rpm - it might not be revving as high as you think. as long as there is plenty of smoke (nice and rich) you should be ok.
here's one at full chat to give you an idea.

i am not sure what type of carb is on the engine, but with the throttle closed you should still see a gap of about 1.5 mm between the slider end and the carb body.

I had this prob too with mine, wheels turning on idle. Turned out I hadn't set the idle properly, the 1.5mm as said above. Best thing to do mate is take it to the shop you got it from and get them to set it up.
Just to make sure the fly wheel etc is postioned properly. I went through 2 before giving in!
Hope this helps.
