Speed Camera Detection

Hi,
I am looking around for a good detector and possibly jammer combination. I have read loads of old posts and there seems no clear answer.
Whats the best (and best value) untits out there?

IMHO you need GPS for the fixed installs coupled with a jammer to stop the Laser. A Radar / Laser Detector is handy just to know whats about.
I have the Snooper S6R Neo which I love, I have used a Road Angel which was good but not as good as the S6.
Things I like about the S6 are:
Built in Modem - No PC Required.
Large LCD Disply.
Indication of the type of threat.
RLD included.
Atomic Clock!!
Distance countdown to threat.
User adjustable maximum speed warning.
User friendly menu's.
I could go on.
I don't have a jammer yet but it's in the pipeline.

Slight mis-spelling in the link mate
http://www.networxautomotive.com/evooffer.html
Thats a new add-on from Blackspot(Road Angel) to compete with the Snooper then isn't it.
I believe networx were doing group buy for the Snooper so I expect they will have something sorted for the Road Angel.

At times like this I recommend you read.
http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk
Lots of units tested.
Was going to be investing in a Road Angel and possibly a separate detector. But Ive just read the spec on the Snooper S6-R so might og for that instead.
edit : Stu WRX
What do you DISLIKE about the s5r? Does it take an age to get a position in the morning etc?

Dislikes???
Hmmmm thats tricky really.
It is designed to be a cross between a permanant install and a portable. Permanant is fine for me but others might want more portable. The RLD unit can be mounted either on the dash or preferably hidden behind the grill, if you put the GPS aerial on the rear parcel shelf as recomended then it becomes a permanant fit (trim etc) but you can buy a spare for about £15 if you want to retain portability. The unit can be used independantly of the RLD part so if you do have that mounted behind the grill you can still take the GPS part with you to another car.
It comes with a good range of bracketry for portable or permanant installs as well as a cigerette lighter & hard wire power supply.
I really can't think of any reason why not to buy one to be honest, I have just looked at the attachment for the Road Angel but that looks like an after thought to me. It may be the No1 rated detector but you still need PC access to upload/download new maps. The Snooper has Ireland & Europe maps available, not sure about the Angel.
Best thing to do is look at them for your self, it's a lot of money to spend so you need to be sure.
Edit - It's the S6R-Neo, not the S5 as you state. Hate you to be looking at the wrong specs. lol

Doh!
Yeah meant the S 6 R. Thanks for the info though.
Anybody got recommendations for where to buy from. Networx are too far north for me. Preferably somewhere in the SE maybe. As Stu says its a hill of money so Id like to take a good look at both before I buy.
Cheers for reading

If your ever in the Portsmouth area come and have a look at mine, although I expect there are more local people than me.
I bought mine from a company called Intranetics (Snooper.com), give Carly a ring and say you heard from me and it's £450 delivered.
Carly Bickley Sales Administrator Snooper Radars Direct From Intranetics Ltd Grundey Street Stockport SK7 4EU 0161 456 3000 0161 456 5000 carly@intranetics.co.uk
I believe the group buy is £450 as well.

RoadPilot - GPS with optional Radar detector module.
Website here:
http://www.geodesygps.co.uk/morpheous-road-pilot.htm
Edit - looking at the S6-R Neo - I'd go with that!

here's my few links 4 ya Belldirect speedtrapdetectors Just got a bell 550 euro from them as nice & cheap (notably cheaper than networx who were selling demo models for more money!) radar-detectors-uk also Speedtrap bible has sum good info also
BTW did inquire about the snooper SR6 thingamy when i saw it had both GPS & detector thingy which seemed good although when i emailed UKspeedtraps he did say that while he hadnt had oportunity 2 try the device so no accurate comparison he had received a few e-mails from not entirely content owners so as i say far from a closed case but i'm not convinced enought just by spec to wana buy 1 as yet.
Road angel & laser does sound tempting thou
Si (all IMO etc )

That Bell 550 looks nice but I couldn't justify that sort of money (£320) on a Radar & Laser detector on it's own. I kinda get the feeling that they are getting them at good prices and so make most money on that type.
How will you know when you are in a Specs environment or if you come accross a Truvelo camera??
Sorry mate I think you need to do some more research. Look at the comparison here http://www.road-angel-gps.co.uk/road...ison-chart.htm and compare the features of the 550 to those of the S6R Neo, barely any better. (only Gatso's which would be on GPS, and mini Gatso's by possibly 100m)
Edit - Just re-read the post, don't want to sound like i'm dissing you . I think a lot of people are being sold the wrong equipment by unscrupulous dealers. GPS has to be the way forward in today's climate.

The only problem I see with the GPS systems is the company have to produce regular updates. What happens if the company goes under? I know Snooper are a pretty big company so the chances are unlikely, but you know what I mean.
Do all of these GPS systems use one central database? Or is it possible that one company provides more accurate and up to date info?

I totally agree with ya m8 which is y i asked about the S6R when i saw sum1 floggin em cheap as it ment i kud effectively gain the GPS for a relatively small amount when compared with radar detector & seperate GPS. But put off by that unit by basic comment, admittedly not tested, about not being all expected.
So as i say i agree basic detectors aint all that which is y i'm gettin a road angel c/o Road angel group buy £300 & then all i need is laser & i iz both skint & relatively license safe (NB not raving loony driver so dont flame me again)

well, i have a few weeks before I need to decide, so maybe there will be more reviews of the snooper by then.
in the meantime, if anyone finds a company that could install a tracker and some kind of detector system at the same time, let me know.
