DVD Player

Anyone got any recommendations for a DVD player? Budget is up to £250, £300 at a push.
I was thinking of the Toshiba SD100E which Richer sounds have for £210 (multiregion)

As long as it fits with your decor(colour)/setup(size) has DTS digital and optical output and is obviously multi region then you should be fine.
IMVHO its the AMP and TV that add the biggest impact on quality. Richer Sounds have always been very good service and price wise, get down there and ask them as generally their guys are spot on as they are enthusiasts themselves. I've got a Phillips 310 DVD, its OK but no Optical output but CO-Axil DTS which is OK. Its cost me just under 200quid.

You'll regret it if you don't buy an Sony CX-860D
It holds 301 DVDs in a jukebox. Has optical out (DTS compatible).. more outs than you ever know what to do with.
I've got over 100 DVD discs, and I can sit back, bring up a menu of the films to watch and hit PLAY !
No more ferreting through boxes for the right disc.
Single disc unit ? Ha ha ha !
OK, so it's a tad steep at £400 (or thereabouts) but there's no going back once you've tried it.

Well...save a few hundred getting a cheapo amp...and then going for an expensive changer..
I want a changer as well...but the DVD collection is looking kinda neat exposed, unlike yer sorry ar$e David. *ehueheuhehu*
Got yer Egg back yet mate?
Back to the topic...I'd get a region modded DVD-player with DTS capability, that resembles the rest of your equipment, as camk says..it's more up to the amp and telly actually.
Stay away from the cheaper DVD-ROM based players, they're crap.
If I'd be in the business I'd go for a Pioneer or a Sony.

i bought a labway xwave 1000, it plays dvd, cd, cdr, cdrw, vcd, s-vcd and mp3 discs. its also got dolby surround processing on board, is multi-region and has optical o/p. it was about 235 quid. you can do groovy things like associate pictures (album covers ??) with mp3 tracks and display them on the tv when that track is playing. check

I've found Techtronics service to be less than satisfactory, causing me to cancel several orders (each time giving them the benefit of the doubt that the previous order was handled badly by accident)

DVD on PS2 ... not totally happy with it yet.
Lip synch problems and as I have my PS2 going through my video [only G_d knows why ] it won't play the complete disc due to macrovision buffoonery.
I've made a few orders from techtronics and not had any problems ... yet!
Looking to buy a Sony Grand Wega and they seem to be cheapest at the moment.

I bought this model 10 months ago and at the time I could not decide whether to go cheap or expensive. It's a good player, well reviewed and will play any DVD thrown at it so far. Ecellent picture hooked up to Philips 36" widescreen.

Try your local Richer Sounds and see what they have... I've got a Sony 735 (chipped) from them and am very happy with it (was a shop demo so cost £300). My friend got a Pioneer player from them and he's pleased with that too. We've both checked the R1 compatibility and no problems in that area.

Be very careful with anyone advertising multiregion especially on Toshiba's.
As far as I know only Techtronics Toshiba's will play the new RCE region 1 DVD's
