Mate of mine has a BMW M-coupe - X-plate with 20k on the clock.
Great fun car - hate to say it, but loads faster than my mildly modded MY99!
Anyway - he is incapable of driving at less that 110%, even when cold. He fires it up, blips the revs to 5/6k and screams off, redlining in every gear with the temp indicator in the blue.
I nurse my Scooby for at least ten minutes when cold - surely those M-tech engines are just as fragile, turbo's or not. I've told him to warm it up properly, but he just ignores me!
Any idea when it'll go bang?! I want to be there....

Next month my girlfriends boss is going on holiday for two weeks and she is lending us her BMW 318 company car while she is away.
This car is going to hit the rev limiter in every gear from cold, after all it deserves it!
Might have to practice my doughnuts too, wonder if i can pursuade her boss that the tyres only last two weeks!

Chap at work had a EVO V, would *insist* on booting it from cold out of the company car park. Pundits, including myself, had the life expectancy of that engine in 000s of miles instead of 100,000s of miles
He's now sold it and replaced it with a 1.8 Clio after being stopped by the police 4 times in 3 weeks. Once apparently after doing 110mph in town - a completely dumb move IMHO.
No engine can stand being thrashed from cold, like you am always canny with the temperature until the Scoob is nicely warmed up.
