Only just started playing it and have passed my first licence.

Must say the first thing that strikes you is, no matter how many pics you've seen of the cars, when you see them for the first time spinning around in 360 at the dealers, they look simply beautiful, even down to the tyre tred! The imprezzas all look superb, from the wagons, to the new MY01, to the rally cars.

No used cars to buy - you use your opening balance to buy a small sized car (Mazda MX5,etc) and go on from there.

Already had some cracking races. Oce I turbocharged my Mazda MX5, the chassis started to struggle with the power which was great to see / feel.

All the old tracks are recognisable, but this time they're in high definition which is brilliant.

One thing I would say is don't expect the core game to be hardly any different from GT2 - its not. Its like GT2 in hi-res.

PS: The Wheel Shop is still there - YES!!!

Thumbs up

Excellent.
I went into EB yesterday and Virgin to enquire if they did any package deals for GT3 and PS2. Seems they may make a bundle offer.

Daz, you are from the States, right? Would that explain how you got your copy early?

BlowDog,

No, I'm English thru and thru - I just like playing my vidgames the way they were intended - 60frames per second, in an NTSC stylee, so I bought an American console.

I reckon you should buy GT3 first, play it for a day, then decide if you want to lash out on the wheel.

I've been playing GT3 on my US PS2, and reckon the game rocks too ! (gave up waiting for the UK release)

I'm playing with just the joypad, as I can't balance the steering wheel on my lap (and I don't have a table to use)

Unlocking my licenses slowly but surely

Sorry, but I'm not interested in the rally cars, it's those GT cars that do it for me... sweet and FAST !!

What car did you start out with ? I used the MX5

David,

Yeah, I got an MX5, then turbo charged it!

Trouble is, it topped out at 140mph and was beaten by the Merc SLK on the test bowl, so I bought the Sports Transmission and re-geared it so it now tops out at 165mph!

Just bought myself a MY01 STI, and upped the turbo to give me 310bhp.

Haven't bought the wheel yet. I'll buy yours if you don't want it.

I've managed to get the B, A, IB, IA + Rally Licenses.

The IA was a real bitch to get.

Have you gone round the skid pan in the wet with the Corvette, or done the slaloms in the Porsche ? Great great fun.

I take back what I said about the rally cars though, I've got the knack of the powerslides now

Nah, tried none of that - just got the game on Thurs and tried it for the first time Fri night / today.

Looking forward to trying the TVR's and stuff, but you've got to drive the slow stuff first to appreciate the fast stuff later on.

Wait for the F1 cars - it is simply awesome driving them around Monaco!!

But IMVHO you must have a wheel - it really makes a difference as some of the cars are now far more true to life and genuine high speed driving finesse gets beyond the controller's range (at least with this pilot).

Cheers.

Question

Daz

When you say there are no used cars does that mean NO USED CARS AT ALL. That would be a shame i bought my 22B from the used section.

Scott,

NO USED CARS - but don't worry, you can buy a new subaru with a choice of all the models, eg:

WRX, STI, 22b, Rally Car

Both old shape and new shape.
Both 4 door and wagon for the WRX & STI.

The Scoobs LOOK superb as well. Not to mention you can take them to the wheel shop and stick on a set of OZ's!

Scott,
Nah, just into top games like GT3 and stuff.

I'd definitely recommend you go buy LeMans for Playstation2 today, while you wait for GT3 next week.

LeMans really offers a great race experience, especially when you have 'real' weather turned on so it rains and stuff.

Gary,

EB say that they will bundle PS2 and GT3 for £300.
Virgin, unofficially, say that they will bundle GT3, 2 pads and memory card PS2 for £300 which sounds cool.

Dave P,

Never coming to PC - well worth it - just think how much it would be to buy all those cars - Millions!
