Just got two text messages on my Orange mobile:
1)
VodafoneOmnitel welcomes you to Italy. Dial 42727 when you are in major public squares and receive information about them (this service has a charge)
2)
Welcome to VodafoneOmnitel. You can dial 123 to listen to your
voice-mail or 150 to contact Customer Care as you do in England.
Ey? Has Staffordshire joined the EU and moved to Italy?

Exactly the same thing happened to me about 1450 this afternoon. I received two texts in quick succession:
1) VodafoneOmnitel welcomes you to Italy. Dial 42727 when you are in major public squares and receive information about them (this service has a charge)
2) Welcome to VodafoneOmnitel! You can dial 123 to listen to your voice-mail or 150 to contact your Customer Care, as you do in England (chargeable communication)
I rang Orange and they logged it all so I don't get charged overseas rates when in Dorset!
It seems to me an attempt to get you to dial the numbers and get charged a truckload, however Orange told me to go to Phone settings and manually select Orange (it was previously set to automatic selection as I was skiing in France last week).
Strangely about an hour ago my phone lost signal and asked for me to select a network when I has manually selected Orange 5 hours ago???...

LMAO @ REV
Ian, glad it's not just me then.
My network selection is set to Auto and I was in France w/end of 25/26th Jan for the Monte Carlo WRC. My two messages are time stampted 13:55 but I think that's CET.
Both are from 1122.
