Might happen sooner rather than later as the digital ITV conglomerate is losing money hand over fist trying to compete with SKY. They should broadcast the free to air programmes via the SKY digital feed as per normal and then have you subscribe to the other channels as part of your chosen package.

We got Sky digital in March 1999, never bothered to get a terrestrial aerial and have not seen ITV since. No loss at all.
Sky One is the most watched channel in the house, ITV are the losers since they rely on audience share for advertising revenue which is going down like the Titanic.
Evidently they have finally realised this to be true and done a deal with Sky.

My personal understanding of this along with my own personal opinion:
Quite an ironic tale this, when Sky started ITV refused to supply the feed. They tried to use this to force OnDigital on us all....
Then it comes to light that people who have Sky watch at least 20% less ITV than people who don't.
Now, ITV advertising revenues are way down, Coronation Street stars are being asked to take a pay cut, and ITV want Sky to take the channel.
Sky have basically turned around and said they will - but not at the moment, thanks....
Thanks
Gavin

Our onDigital to ITV digital upgrade instructions came last night... it says we must retune onDigital box on Wednesday 11th to get the new channel lineup, and it says as part of the upgrade you have to stick ITV Digital stickers (provided) over the onDigital logos on the box and remote!!!
I'm considering NTL cable if this ITV digital doesn't deliver, I was quite pleased with onDigital but cannot put a dish on the house for various reasons so Sky is not an option. I also want broadband internet in the future, so NTL looks like the way to go.

Same here, although for Corrie (the wife) and GP Sundays, we use our portable.

Dumpty,
Everyone else commenting on the thread obviously knows what Chelsie has written (they probably have Sky digital already). May be useful for those that don't however so no need really for posts like this.
As Chelsie's contribution was 'utterly useless' your contribution to the thread is what exactly...?

The above BBC link is good news on the ITV/Sky front however. I have hardly watched the channel in the time since upgrading to digital, and it annoys me when I miss decent content simply because the channel isn't in the digital listings guide.

jbryant, well said and thank you.
Dumpty - you looking for a slap? Your talking to my girlfriend. She by nature always tries to help people, so I for one don't take kindly to posts like yours.

I've got to say that it's stuff like this that turns people away from Scoobynet. People starting new nicknames (Dumpty has 2 posts to his name and no email address strangely) just to give unidentified abuse to others - pathetic.
