Hi there' I take it from your post name that
you own one, just want to know what they are like? If the insurance is taking the **** with the scoob, we are thinking of getting one. Whats the low down on power, insurance and running costs and possibly what mods are available. Any info would be helpful

Cheers....C

CRAFT

I had a my01 wrx as a company car for a couple of months, and then i had to change jobs. i could have taken it with me as it was an internal transfer but looking at the new company car tax rules starting next year going on emissions, the tax on the scoob was horrendous. and i lost the fuel card

i have a new shape 172 on order (left the factory yesterday apparently) so should hav it in 2 weeks. i drove the outgoing one once and was impressed with the handling and power. brakes were a bit naff, and 15" wheels looked to small, but on the new one the brakes are different, 16" wheels are standard and it has more low down grunt. it has 12000 mile service intervals, but i dont know about cost.

cheers

dave

Hi,

I paid £13,500 for mine (imported) and for that sort of money I can't complain!
I'm only 19, so for me it's pretty much a perfact car. Too much more power, and I'm pretty sure that I'd have points on my licence by now.

-Renault dealerships aren't brilliant.
-Average of about 30-35mpg (25 when driven hard!).
-I'm 19, fully comp my insurance is £1,600
-I haven't modified my car in any way as yet, but there are more and more mods coming out for the car everyday.
-Power wise, it really depends on what you're used to! IMO it's pretty good! You have the edge on most cars that you'll meet whilst out driving.

Andy.

Craft,
as per any small hot hatch the 172 suffers badly from torque steer! and its not the sharpest of handlers (in its older form before the new revision came out) It is a fast car though, ive been up against one or 2 of em in 1/4 mile sprints, there not really a match for the scoob but they not that far behind either!
SUL is the reccommended fuel for its maximum performance though (full 172bhp), but you still may want to look at others like the gti-6 (177bhp in my last car on nul!), still an excellent car and still in many peoples minds, the best hot hatch available to date (even though production has halted ) or you could wait until the 307 is out in gti form, but im not sure if you can wait until next year though????

The latter versions didn't suffer from torque steer too much.
Mine's fine and hardly sufers from it at all!
