Installed ie 5.5 a while ago, and when I put sites in my favorites they had their own icon before the name. (If the site had one) They have now all been replaced with the standard ie5 icon.

Any ideas?

My IE browsers have never done what you describe, they've always put "e" in front of anything.

I don't know of a setting in IE, so perhaps it was some crafty additional Windows candy s/w installed by whoever supplied it. You know like the old Win95Plus! thingy you could buy years ago.

I Installed ie4 with windozzz 98. Then I downloaded the 5.5 upgrage from Microsoft web site.

The upgrade is on most magazine covers. Thus avoiding a 45 minute download. This is also true of Windows Media player 7.

Have you deleted your temporary internet files or cleared out IE's history? That usually gets rid of the icons on my machine

The icon you speak of is actually called Favicon.ico

When designing sites you can place this in the root directory and it then shows up in the favourites list - hence fav(ourites)icon.

Not really sure why it disappears though in the list. Mine is intermittent
